Keefe’s obsession with keeping Matthews with Marner is infuriating, as is his love affair with David Kampf.

Should we really be pushing Bertuzzi? Was he really that injured if he is already good to go for practice…let him rest up for real if it’s legit.…he was not helping the team in his condition yesterday.

Fire Keefe. It’s on the coach for not motivating his players. How on earth did we play so fucking soft last night that no one responds to Willy being boarded and staying down? How on earth do we bring in tough/greasy players and yet we have zero net front presence yet again, unless it’s the captain?
How are we just running the same shit over and over again?

So… Keefe’s still committed to this Tavares-Nylander experiment is he? Good lord…
Dozens of potential lineup adjustments he can make and he throws his hands to the sky in frustration that he’s fresh out of ideas. Smh.

The only positive part of this entire tweet is Kampf on the 3rd line.
The obsession if Mathews and Marner is going to be the death of this team and what my ultimately cost us Nylander.
My lines;
Knies – Mathews – Nylander
Bertuzzi – JT – Marner
Domi – Kampf – Jarnkrok (I would trade and replace or fill with AHL prospect)
Gregor – Holmberg – Reaves
You can pair off your right wing and center, and change the left wing spot as needed without disrupting the entire line up.
But hey I’m not an NHL coach.,

Lots of calls to break up Tavares – Nylander and move Willy up with Matthews but I personally can’t get behind splitting up what has been their best line. I think you just gotta tell Matthews and Marner to figure it out and give the Tavares line more minutes in the meantime.

Why can’t Homberg try 3C? If you can put Minten there then I don’t see why Kampf is the answer.

I’d be interested in seeing them try these lines:
Domi-Matthews-Nylander
Knies-Tavares-Bertuzzi
Jarnkrok-Kampf-Marner
Gregor-Minten-Holmberg
Reaves should be the extra forward and get in for games against rival teams or teams that are known to play dirty. It’s what he was brought in for wasn’t it?

It’s still early but the issue we’re having is that we’ve paid our stars “fairly”. Unfortunately you disadvantage your team with fair contracts. Marners 10.5 – might might be fair value for that contract but look at contracts like Jack Hughes at 8.5. Hughes is a better player than Marner and at 2 mill less. That’s the kinds of contracts you need to win. Matthews at 12.5 is fair value but he’s getting paid the most in the league. That means Mackinnon, Mcdavid, drai (all his comparables) are on better contracts. It doesn’t matter if he’s worth the money, it’s a competition to have better players for less cap hit than the other teams. Other teams have Marner comparables for a couple million less. They have Matthews comparables for less. That means, theoretically, that they may have 2-4 million more cap to spend with similar caliber players at the top. Thats the kind of cash that turns David Kampf into duschene or Ryan oreilly or turns Klingberg into a top 3 D. It’s why we always seem to be one or two players from success.

I feel like no matter what the issue is, the leafs think they can fix it by toying with the bottom six or something
