The kid will have a chance to play this season. There is some debate on how NHL ready he is right now.

Look at hockeybuzz(Eklund) for your daily bullshit rumors. That's probably where the rangers rumor came from. Chances are not many teams wanted kerfoot.
Ummm Toronto has won a cup
I wasn't really surprised here. For college free agents I can understand them going to places that look horrible since…there's a good chance they can fight for jobs.
These guys don't want to end up in the AHL. They want to play in the NHL. Great teams aren't likely say "oh sure, we'll get you a spot." Teams that need guys can say "you will very much have a shot at an NHL job." It's very much how the Leafs ended up with Bozak in the first place.
I'm glad this happened, Avalanche are my second team. Always good to have extra forward depth, but they need defence badly. We'll see.
Duchene 4 Ekmann – Larson
I'm surprised Kerfoot signed before Butcher did.
Kerfoot was Jersey property signs with Colorado, hopefully Colorado property Will Butcher signs with Jersey.
Kerfoot was the Devils prospect for the past 5 years. Honestly, there was almost little to no coverage on him by either the mainstream media or even the smaller niche channels or accounts that are Devils specific. We dont have any real sampling of what he could do with the club as he hasnt participated in the rookie showcases or anything. All we really have are his stats from college, and his assessments from preseaons past and even in preseason he was almost a complete ghost. I get it for Colorado, its a free asset that could pan out. But the book is out on Kerfoot. I just dont think there is enough known about his game and him as a player to really assess what he could end up being. I wish him all the best and hope he at least establishes him self but hes an expendable asset for the Devils at this point with the prospect pool Shero has put together in the past 3 years.
The season seriously can't get here any faster for me, I hate this time of year so much.
Nothing wrong at all. Zero risk. Its fine. No matter how it plays out. Only thing is possible upside. If he makes cut? Awesome. If he produces? Even better.
I have a feeling he'll end up like Canuck defenseman Troy Stecher, not bad but not really great either. Bob.
I believe Colorado is going to get better over the next few seasons. I don't see them as bottom feeders to last long (over 4 seasons). They just need to make the right moves.
Why Colorado? Easiest squad in the NHL to make.
Kerfoot reminds me of a mid-first rounder who gets rushed to the NHL. hes good enough to make it at some point in his career, but should he be brought in this season? or should they set him on a high ahl role and see how he can produce?
i personally feel this is whats happening with Owen Tippett and Florida.
This is only even news because it's August. He's most likely a career AHL player.
Too bad they don't get Will Butcher
You were bashing Colorado for signing Yakupov, but he's a better signing than Kerfoot
kerfoot left a rebuilding devils, who are better than colorado, and he would have played in Jersey..and left for a shit team. He f'd up. Now watch jersey get butcher. lol
TSN 1040 says Tryamkin might be coming back. What do you think?
I think this signing is proof that the Avs will get rid of Duchene before the season starts. Sakic probably has a few defense men lined up for Duchene. I mean I hope we do something… there are only 4 defensemen on the roster right now!
To end some misconceptions on the Avs, stop saying we only have 4 dman (stop looking at cap friendly and assuming that's it) I know it's fun to take easy potshots I know lolorado.. They have Bigras, Lindholm, and Mironov who will be up with the Avs all have some good upside, this D will actually be way better than what they had with the pylons of Tyutin and Beauchemin, and with a healthy EJ, more growth from Zadorov, and a Dman from a Duchene trade it'll be better, not great but better, need Makar next year bad tho.
Yakupov is a free contract…..a former first overall pick for 875k? Lol steal
Kerfoot is solid!
Kerfoot has been excellent all year, while not getting primetime TOI.
Good call … Kerfy was fantastic this year for the Avs, didn't turtle in the playoffs either … Tyson Jost and Kerfoot will hopefully provide the skilled depth they need
