Can’t say he didn’t earn it

Seems harsh for a first time offence but the hit was incredibly stupid and I hope Ras learns from it. We can’t have hits like that in the game.

I don’t really agree with the “game circumstances” part being included as a reason for length of suspension, but I expected 3 games so can’t really argue with the length. Sucks that it happens to a Flame but a good precedence to set for the future

He’s gonna miss the Heritage Classic now, rip to whoever got his name on their HC jersey. Deserved though. Reminded me of Scheifele hitting Evans in the bubble a few years ago and I’m still mad at him for that one

Four games is way too much. Keeping him out for the heritage classic is insane. Hope he appeals.

I can’t argue with the suspension length. That kind of hit could end the career of a player with a concussion history. And Laine’s got one.

I was guessing 3-4 games. Head contact. Left his feet. Player got injured and dying seconds off the game

    That seems fair

But don’t really follow the logic that this one is 4 and Eberle breaking coglinos neck with a board in the playoffs is 0

It’s just so stupid from Ras.

What was there even to gain from doing this? Even a clean hit, with 2 seconds left in a game we were going to lose. Why? Why even put yourself in that situation?

If someone did that to Lindholm we’d be begging for blood.

4 week suspension is the right result for this.

+1 to all. Well deserved for a moronic and dangerous act – hopefully he’s learned a lesson.

  10. 2 shouldve been a right call for firstime offender… Plus 2 for being a Flame

    DOPS is a joke

No real point in comparing this to other suspensions – 4 games is harsh but fair and probably intentional to include the outdoor game.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes unfortunately.

Player safety decides this shit with a dice roll. I’ve seen worse hits not even get 2 minutes.

They don’t care if a hit is dangerous, they care about the outcome of the hit.

  13. Hope he learns from this one. 4 games sounds like the right amount, shame he’s missing the HC though. He has to know he’s too important a player to this team to pull dumb shit like this, hopefully we can tread water while he’s watching from up high

Personally I see this as 4 games. But with the inconsistency in DOPS I’m surprised it’s this many

  15. SamsonBardown

Brutal decision the hit wasnt that bad. 1 game at most

  16. Stupid, needless play at the buzzer. Can’t blame anyone but Ras.

  17. No_Reporter_5023

Wow a comment section that mostly agrees it was a stupid hit a bad hit and the punishment is fair lol
    For the record I agree

  18. RyyKarsch

If this isn’t an exception then it’s fair and unfortunately deserved. There just needs to be consistency with other suspensions moving forward.

  19. Welp… Gilbert’s played well the last two games and now he may see some more minutes over the next 4. Let’s see if he rises to the challenge or shrinks away.

I imagine we’ll see some Solovyov too. I’ll be interested to see if he can make the most of an audition.

  20. Bah. I’m not mad Ras. Just really disappointed ☹️

  21. Trouba head hunts all the time and gets nothing. This league really loves to pick and choose when they punish a player/team. Gudbranson should have gotten a game atleast for roughing
