Here's my question Jay, have you figured out how to counteract the trap that teams seem to be playing against you? Because that's what Winnipeg plays against the Oilers.
These reporters have a tough job and can't win. For many years the narrative was they were far too hard on players and coaches which made it difficult to attract players and so I understand where they're coming from in trying to change that. But these softball questions as a way of remaining professional are irritating both as a journalist and fan. Why isn't anyone asking him why they decided to scratch Broberg after the game of his life against Nashville and why is Holloway not being given the crack on the second line that Janmark is being given. Why is Nurse and Bouchard continuing to play the big minutes they're playing while consistently taking dashes out there. Very frustrating.
This is more of the same questions and the same answers. If the Oilers were 8-12-0 or 7-12-1 I'd start to worry, they'll find a way. The Oilers don't start off like some teams but they tend to figure it out later in the year.
Why does your entire teamgame need work, Jay? Its essentially the same group as last year, youve had a full camp to prepare just like every other team.

Someone DEMAND that Holloway be the trigger of Give-and-Gos that are completed with a One-timer or a Tip-in or a Scoop-shot into the back-door or 5-hole, we need to see him hit the O-zone with Speed and the Option to drive it or pass it but when he does pass it it has to be into a give-and-go so he can use his residual speed force an opening for the finish. Same play every single time, not tricks, just KISS. Holler has to be ready to drive it to the net as he crosses their blueline if there is no pass with zero stutters so if the lanes can be forced open he has to take all the way it to the basket and shoot Elbow-bone or deke 5-hole. Let Holler drive the Bus and Ice the Cake to.

It amazes me how the top two lines get rewarded for poor play ……..but the bottom two lines wear the punishment?

Calgary missed the playoffs by one point last year, figure it out.
Seems to me this is an effort issue… that should not be an issue for a veteran team that everyone has a legit contender!
I would love the chance to be a video coach and break down the other teams strategies and systems and offer a solution the break them down.
