I Hate ESPN

Why advertise it as ESPN+ and then make me not able to watch it? This has happened for me on multiple different sports, multiple different occasions.

  1. Not trying to be rude, but why does everyone have this issue? Blackouts are for in-market games only.

If you’re near NY or Seattle, it’s blacked out because you need cable television or a live tv streaming service. It’s not very hard to understand. (Yes, that means paying $70+/mo. In a lot of cases)

I don’t get why everyone complains about this nonstop. I’m a Blue Jackets fan. If I want to watch CBJ games, I need cable or a live tv streaming service because I live in Ohio. ESPN+ is for all *out of market* games.

ESPN+ lets me watch all the *other* teams’ games. If you’re in New York, for instance, several teams are likely affected.

They don’t want you to only pay $10/mo and get the entire package, they still have network deals. The expectation is that you have television service to watch your home team, and ESPN+ for non-home teams.

Why do they have to bring my package into this

LOL I’m a Blackhawks fan from Kansas City! I don’t have to worry about this!

Temporarily visit Denver or somewhere far away

They advertise it as ESPN+ Power Play
    1000+ OUT-OF-MARKET games.

  7. I have season tickets, but if I want to watch games for my team (Jets), I need to have three different packages. I need to have cable which gets me CBC, then get TSN, and Rogers. No thanks. I just pirate the high seas for games out of town, but realistically, it’s annoying and I just stop trying to watch the games. At this point I’ll probably cancel my season tickets due to it being so expensive to follow the team I want to watch

Nord VPN. Pour a little capt and sail away

Laughs in Canadian. I can watch every in market and out of market game that Sportsnet airs.

  10. I think it sucks too, but It’s a problem across all sports leagues. For example, nfl Sunday ticket is only for out of market games, local or nationally televised games you need a tv streaming service. I get it, it sucks you have to have multiple subscriptions, but these posts are getting extremely tiresome. It’s sucks, we get it.

This all has to do with Jim, Dolan and MSG, douche bag

  12. ESPN is the worst of all the streaming platforms

So far in Sportsnet I haven’t had a game blacked out, but it would be even better if the site we do not mention here worked consistently

I don’t understand is this everyone’s first ever year watching hockey? Why is this posted so often? These blackouts have Been around since day 1 of online subscription’s way back when it was on the NHL app, (also centre ice, so even satellite) it has never changed, and unless ESPN are your local broadcast you’ll be blacked out. It’s fucking unbelievably simple

I have sportsnet + in Canada, to watch 60 of the local jets games I also need to have a subscription to TSN, so I do. Easy peasy, it’s unfortunate that it’s not the cheapest way of doing things but I’m done with pirating, to inconvenient, streams are choppy and annoying to get onto the tv. Whatever I can budget

So question, who actually is blacking it out? I was driving home from work last night, had the game on ESPN+ no blackout issues. I got home, turned it off, went inside, tried to put it on my TV through the ESPN+ app and it was blacked out? Also tried on my phone again and it was also blacked out less than .1 mile from my car where I had no issues. My internet provider is Cox, are they the problem? Signed up for a FUBO trial, and was able to watch the game not blacked out on the same WIFI. Very confused at this point and just want to watch my team

Don’t blame ESPN, blame the NHL. ESPN would love to be able to show every game to everyone, but they don’t have the rights because the NHL sold them to regional broadcasters and blacks them out for everyone else.

  16. It is absolutely ridiculous they still do this in 2023

  17. 69Gunslinger69

It’s low key making me mad people are still paying for ESPN and whatever other app that’s saying you can watch the games. SAIL THE SEAS. Fuck paying for nothing.
