Mark Scheifele Lays Dirty Hit on Jake Evans in Game 1 – My Thoughts

This hit by Mark Scheifele on Jake Evans is unacceptable, and should not go unpunished. Jake Evans was stretchered off the ice, and will likely be done for the rest of this series. The Montreal Canadiens won the game 5-3 over the Winnipeg Jets.

  1. Wasn’t a needed hit, but it was clean. It’s playoff hockey. You should expect to get run over at any moment.

  2. BS you can say what you want but this was a body hit, not head focused. This is an intense series and both teams are great. Playing for the the ultimate greatest honor in professional sports.

  3. Good clean hit. Evans should have kept his head up. Back in my day,,,,Broad Street Bullies Time frame this was an everyday hit. The premadonas of today can't take the hits. Evans should retire for being a punk

  4. Good hit he committed to it instead of the puck play a game of hockey before judging no subscription form me joke

  5. It’s hockey , guys go out and intend to have big checks like that . Big clean checks , glide in the from the blue line ( no charge ) and jake evans commits a cardinal sin . You are taught from minor hockey to always keep your head up ! Especially…. ESPECIALLY when coming out to the front of the net . You can say his intent was whatever you want it to be , you can say there’s 58 seconds left in the game . None of that changes the fact that this was a text book clean body check , shoulder into chest . No elbow , no stick and no charge . There’s no such rule as “ last minute of play losing game , so you can’t make a big clean check . He had his head down, thats on him , if he picked his head up he would never have gotten hit . These are the facts

  6. You actually think he knew he scored ??? That’s absurd , hockey happens that fast . They don’t get to slow it down , if you think he can have all those thoughts you just explained in under a second ? You have the ability to stop , watch and analyze and do that over and over again and then have this big explanation. He had under a second and the hit was a text book clean hit . Go play some hockey for a couple years and you’ll sing a different tune .

  7. Your high buddy, your only seeing it the way you want to see it not the way it happend. It was a clean play and hit period.

  8. Interesting how this video analyzing the Scheifele hit has 136k views, which is way more than your other videos which only have hundreds and thousands of views!

  9. This is just hockey, it’s a clean hit. He didn’t charge, didn’t elbow, he just hit him really really hard. And without super slow motion there, any hockey player makes that same play in that big situation, it’s the right move. Guys are just gunna get hurt sometimes. They usually get back up. Go watch soccer please.

  10. Unfortunately if the puck is on your stick then you have to keep your head up. It's the playoffs

  11. Not a WPG fan and have no axe to grind but your reasoning is idiotic. "His head was down because he was trying to score an empty net goal for his team". Duh. How does that excuse his head being down exactly? Jake Evans is an NHL player, not a Mite player. It was a good hockey play by MS, maybe a charging a penalty, but appropriate for the situation. You, like everyone else who doesn't get it, are reacting to the result and not the play. He happened to catch Evans in just such a way that sent him flying and then to compound things his head hit the ice. Unfortunate, but the fact is that if MS tried to duplicate that result he couldn't.

Four games was a complete, f**king joke.

  12. Be there was no fan noise I wonder if the Montreal bench made any noise to maybe alert him of an oncoming potential hit…..or if his teammates on the ice warned him…..

  13. I agree Nik Ehlers is a class act, and should haven that A on his jersey NOT Scheifele.

  14. My take has always been that Schiefele gave up on stopping the goal before he crossed the blue line – yes he slows up but so does Evans. If Schiefele had seriously attempted to break up the play Evans would have hustled and scored anyway. Point being: nobody on the ice was in any doubt that a goal was about to be scored. Schiefele saw red, took out his anger on a vulnerable opponent and then – which lost me any remaining respect I might have had for him – lied about it. If he'd admitted that he made a terrible mistake in the heat of the moment I could have forgiven him, but to insist on a story that's just ridiculous because you don't have the character to admit when you're wrong is pathetic. I live in Ottawa, I'm a Sens fan, but like many Canadians ( I suspect) I have a natural tendency to cheer for Winnipeg as a natural underdog. Had, I should say. As long as Schiefele is a Jet I'll keep cheering on whoever their opponent is…even the Leafs.

  15. No he laid a hit. This game allows hitting, so why get mad at a player hitting another player. Yeah he didn't have to hit him but if a guy wants to hit someone that had the puck the guy can. If u put your head down thats on you not the hitter. Why not just skate everywhere with your head down, then cry when someone hits u? "U can't hit me my head is down and im trying to score so im untouchable..c'mon man no one wants that. Its the toughest league on the planet for a reason. It is very necessary to lay a big hit in the playoffs, if a player is knocked out for the series thats not a bad thing. And like most ppl with eyes and have actually played hockey knows he went thru his body, this is why evens sacrificed himself for the goal. He decided to lay a hit in a game that allows hitting. So dumb when ppl choose to forget this. U don't like it watch soccer
