Just shows the society and culture we live in today. Kids… yes, kids think it's okay to sucker punch someone when they lose fair and square. It's what we get in an "everyone gets a trophy" world. The kid who punched has probably never been told "no" in his life. I'm glad he was banned (but believe it should have been for the rest of his high school career), and that he was criminally charged by the police. I'd be curious to hear how he defends his actions to a judge. I hope he learns a valuable lesson from this before he does something more stupid and winds his dumb ass in jail for years! As for the one who got punched, I hope he is okay.

This Youth should have been suspended from wrestling his entire time in HS. Complete unsportsmanlike conduct. Makes me wonder if he bullied his classmates as well… or if his parents bullied him at home. 😕

Yes, make an example and ban him no doubt, there are many more wrestlers out there and this can be an example to anyone else in that field no matter how old they are information trickles down. He was wrong to hit the other kid cos he was losing. Maybee give him one more chance, Maybee but a nice suspension is a minimum punishment, and when I say nice suspension I mean a whole year. Then he has the time to decide anyway if he really wants this profession. Minimum punishment 1 yr, maximum life to make an example. he could have severly injured the unsuspecting other boy, hes lucky he didnt. He deserves a lesson to be taught and to be made an example. There are many more instances in all sports where this happens, this is just one, but he definetly needs time to reflect before being able to perform another match, then he can decide how much he loves this kind of field. Make an example of him and save another persons loife. Ive seen peopel killed for falling down stairs and for being punched unsuspectedly. Let him sit and suspened him for a year at least.

Simple solution. Ban the player from ALL sporting ACTIVITIES and disqualify the team for this Meet. All of the competition. A message needs to be sent, LOUD AND CLEAR. These sporting events are to provide training not only in athleticism but for sportsmanship and fair play. You want to be a fighter, Join the nearest boxing club.
If the above solution were to be put into affect, old slugger would find himself walking around always looking over his shoulder, for his EX-Teammates. Bullies are cowards…
