I remember when so many pundits were topping Ehlers so hard. Literally endorsing a Nylander for Ehlers trade. Good thing we finally got management that stuck to a plan and it’s quality guys instead of rage quiting and making bad lateral to negative trades.

Ehlers is a very good player who has struggled with injury, over the two seasons prior to last he had 101 points in 109gp but struggled with injury last season.
Nylander had 122 points in 132 games in that same time, and was fully healthy last year.
I think you have to give Ehlers a chance to prove himself before you start acting like he’s fallen off.
I don’t remember people ever saying to trade Nylander for Ehlers. There was a lot of discussion at the time they were drafted in 2014 about who the Leafs should pick and a lot of people wanted Ehlers. Ehlers is still a very good player and picking either of them at 8th overall in 2014 would not have been a bad pick.
