Rangers After Dark, too hot for prime time TV!

  2. StaticShockk

I think 4-2 is a fine record considering our top 2 centers haven’t scored yet! A lil snake bitten but still serving dimes!

  3. JPmoneyman

Not the best game overall but you’ll take a road win on the West Coast any way you can get it. Erik Gustafsson is also good.

  4. greysfordays

just saw the meeting I gotta be on site tomorrow for got switched from 2 pm to 9 am but don’t caaaare rangers with a solid W

  5. Gbeez22

Love that they decided to play solid D the whole third and the Calgary couldn’t do shit. They pulled their goalie and then proceed to ruin any chance they had with dumb penalties.

  6. darkgrayallalone

    Another successful Rangers After Dark

My goodness. We aren’t worthy of shesty

  8. ~~we’re winning the cup~~

    ~~nvm we’re missing the playoffs~~

Nvm we’re winning the cup again

  9. Slugggo

    Rangers wins this season: 5-1, 2-1, 4-1, 3-1

Why don’t we just give up only one goal every game? So simple!

  10. shaggydaddy

Rangers tuckin the boys in with a big fat smooch. Great defense after the first two minutes with some exceptions Igor could cover, smothered the flames.

  11. jhealey0909

Boys continue to buzz, no Dryden Hunt goal, all in all a great night

  12. MUSTY_BUSSY

It’s weird. We were trapped in our zone the entire third period, but I wasn’t really scared at any point. We kept Calgary to the outside and swarmed anyone that tried to occupy the slot. We’re still turtling when we have the lead, but it feels like we’ve learned to turtle in a productive manner.

Can’t lie having a rough couple days but a late night Rangers W always takes some of the sting away. Solid W where we didn’t have everything but we had enough. I think in a few weeks once this group really gets comfortable playing Lav’s system we’re gonna have a lot of fun.

  14. NSNSprite

Disciplined bounce back after a chaotic first ten minutes.

There are so many little things that we’re doing this year that I feel like we didn’t really focus on last year. Lacy’s impact thus far clearly can’t be overlooked.

  15. Kbb0509

I’m loving that this west coast trip came so early. Boys can bond on the road and get used to the new system and be primed and ready for the Metro when they get back.

  16. explosivebuttfarts

Do bench minors count as penalty minutes towards a players total if they sit for that penalty? Like is Cuylle going to end up with 4 penalty minutes for this game?

  17. jerejeje

Erik Gustafsson is a decent player but he looks so much better to us Rangers fans because our LD3s before him were

Jarred Tinordi, Ben Harpur, Patrik Nemeth, Libor Kayak, Justin Braun,Brendan Smith, Jack Johnson, Zac Jones, and Niko Mikkola(last 2 weren’t awful but you get the point)

The upgrade Gus provides over those guys by virtue of simply being able to pass the puck at an NHL level is massive.

  18. SortaRican4

Defensive structure is night and day from last year. Love to see it

  19. NewUserWorldnews

someone @ NHL on twitter and have them adjust the score to chytil because he actually had the goal and not Gus

  20. NewUserWorldnews

schneider was true to his word tonight, his interview with Mollie Walker was correct when he said hes improving every game. Tonight was a quiet but marked improvement. Good shit schneids

  21. greysfordays

before I go to bed just gotta say I love sam and joe, they were firing on all cylinders as the third period winded down, not having any of calgary’s shit lmao. two absolute gems, we really lucked out w them

  22. Darclite

Honestly loved how we looked. After the early goal we looked great until the end of the second. Can’t believe we got Gus for free. Chytil looks incredible. Laf is skating hard and producing. Cuylle looks like a young Callahan. Schneider made a couple of really nice plays in front to prevent likely goals. And Igor was at his best.

While it’s not great that the third period was entirely in our zone, if the tables are turned and we’re down 3-1 I’m probably pulling my hair out over how little offense is being generated.

  23. laviolette just said that blocking shots is good but it means you’re playing too much defense, and you’d rather to be on the other end of the ice and keeping the puck over there

that’s exactly what i said [the other night](https://old.reddit.com/r/rangers/comments/17dlg6a/post_game_thread_new_york_rangers_at_seattle/k5xgnk5/?context=3)

not sure why Laviolette would skip the 2nd line for the last 3/4ths of the 3rd period if he doesn’t want them turtling in the D zone too much but i’ll take having the same mindset as a win

  24. Envelopen

Defense has been on a tear, and so has shesty and quick. Loving the start so far, hope to see mika break through soon

  25. ItsHeadbangerG

Despite some rough patches I think that was a pretty solid game. Calgary started to buzz in the third, but Igor went ultra instinct and proclaimed that goal in the opening minutes of the game was all they could have. Power play was beautiful tonight, and penalty kill was equally as good.

I wish refs would be taken to task for picking and choosing which penalties they want to call. Numerous holding calls passed up. Zadorov causally flexing a 30 inch vert on his hit. It’s pretty ludicous to think they don’t see these things happening. But I guess being down 3-1 is enough to garner [pity](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2938072-the-nhl-needs-to-reckon-with-its-officiating-problem-after-makeup-call-scandal) for the poor widdle flames.

    Anywho, see ya Thursday.

  26. funkingrizzly

Mika doesn’t have a goal and we are winning. He won’t be for long. Things are looking good fellas

  27. ShouniAishaKuma

Good win! Seeing 1-3-1 with more defensive coverage in the 3rd was nice (though I know people aren’t the biggest fans of it). Gustafsson played great! Top 6 was largely great (though Mika is a bit snake bitten right now).

That being said, we still gave up too many HDCF but luckily Igor bailed us out.

  28. feedmekombucha

Who up and fuckin in the Alaskan King Rangers bed tonight with the socks on?

On this episode of ***Rangers After Dark: Midnight Flames,*** on a night where the Flames start out on fire, were eventually doused by the early snow outside the Saddledome and also by the Rangers. Oh god I don’t want to see snow yet. I know uh guy w/uh snowblowuh. And now the late, late, review

1st Period: the game started off bad. bad breakdown defensively. What I noticed in the period was too many odd man rush chances. Gotta clean that up going forward. But, after the bad start, the rangers looked like they were in Seattle. A good team. Mika had good chances. Dude’s gotta get one someday. Chytil had some chances here as well. more on him later.

2nd Period: The Rangers went into this period, turning it around. Laf went to the Christopher James Kreider school of tip in’s on the power play. Alexis Lafreniere (whispers) it’s a power play goal! the Rangers play this period really as very, very, good. The PK was en fuego. Which led to another one on the pp by Christopher James Kreider(whispers… you know the line). But what made me really, impressive, was the forechecking in that period. Trocheck looked good. But who was really good and is really on fire, Chytil. Almost scored Gus scored (give him credit). But that dude (Fil) was fire burning on the ice all night long. More apples for him. Kakko’s puck management made that goal really.

3rd Period: More of a ho hum. Igor made saves, the defense when the Flames had lots of puck possession in the rangers zone, and the defense didn’t break. No shots. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. I’ll give credit to Cuylle, Dude almost had one. And I’ll say it again, Kakko, size and his control of the puck, if he can get shooting going, oh man I’d be a happy, happy dude. Still happy w/his play w/the puck(not in a scoring sense).

With the slow start, which was annoying, the Rangers flexed their muscles tonight. Lav said it best, it wasn’t an A plus game but it was an A game. Gotta clean up on the odd man rushes. Everyone clicked tonight. Igor was Igor, the 2nd line is cooking. 3rd line except Wheeler, has been a good checking line(like to see some goals) and the special teams tonight was perfect.

Overall, I’m please with the performance. Rangers Win! Nice win tonight/into day. Continue w/this good performance into Thursday. Onto the Oilers. W/o McJesus. Still DONT TAKE THE OILERS LIGHTLY DUH.
A message received from Oppie; Take in the Sheets. 2 Pts in the bag tonight. Oh and the Eye Lan duhs gave up a touchdown. Love it! 2nd episode of ***Rangers After Dark*** was a success.

    Onto the Oilers.

God Save the King. Back afta dis.
