Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I’ll take 7 points in 6 games but man what the fuck. The thing is, Anaheim really didn’t even play all that well.

  2. 1/7 on the powerplay lost us this game. Their goal in OT also didn’t help

  3. CBJBucks15

Tough ending but you aren’t gonna win them all. Very encouraged by their play as of late. Lots of posts that could’ve easily turned this into a 4-2/5-2 win. Back at it Thursday

  4. Wanna win it but the bounces didn’t go our way. Got the shots, got the pings, a dumb mistake, happens with a young team BUT this is night and day better than last year. On to the next one.

  5. austinD93

Just a tough one. We looked the better team, just couldn’t put one in.

  6. Powerplay taking steps forward, but inexcusable to not at least have 2-3 when you’ve got 7 opportunities.

I’d like to see Recchi’s powerplay from his first two years coaching with the Pens, not the last two.

I’m just going to say it…Gaudreau, Werenski, Marchenko and Texier have to start producing. Enough is enough. One goal combined from all of them through 6 games and it was an empty netter. Not good enough.

Disappointed, but not upset with the result. CBJ were very good tonight, just some really poor puck luck. PP was extremely good, even if they ended at 1-7. PK was excellent, too. And Elvis played very well. Just a couple bad breaks at each end kept this from being an easy win.

If they keep playing like that, I’ll be a happy camper.

  9. 1. 1/7 on the PP is never going to win you games.

    2. Too many silly turnovers. Severson, buddy…

    3. Hopefully this loss is a good wake up call that we’re still far from the playoffs.

    4. If Olivier is only going to play 6:39 than I’d rather let Voronkov get in and mix it up.

  10. Aperture-Employee

have to score more than one time in 14 minutes. other than that it’s a tough loss to swallow but we played well.

Maybe we should hire Connor Stallions as a PP Analyst, guy seems pretty good at cracking the code to things

  12. Independent_Context4

terrible loss. 1 for 7 on the power play. just another year of that crap. also Severson’s turnover….yikes

  13. If the Rags and Flyers can lose tonight, I’ll feel immeasurably better about only getting one point against Anaheim.

  14. On the most part looked pretty decent. A great team puts up at least 4 with the chances they had. A lot to build off of but sometimes puck luck isn’t there.

  15. This better just be a rough start for Severson because man, he’s not been impressing me.

  16. Fabresque_

I thought overall, we played decent. We certainly were the better team tonight.

Once again individual mistakes are costing us. Severson was bumcheeks tonight. And the power play was completely unacceptable.

A point is a point but we really deserved to get two. Move on to Thursday.

Rational, level headed take from today’s game:

    1. This team looks infinitely more composed and cohesive this year.

    2. I’m curious about the advanced stats of this team. I feel like the goal scoring difficulties of several players is an aberration.

    3. Power Play looks better but cost us this one.

    4. Penalty Kill still looks pretty good.

    5. Elvis seems much improved.

    6. Adam Fantilli is going to terrorize the league.

    7. Can we stop running into hot goalies?

    8. Severson was BAD tonight. But you know, these things happen.

  18. EverlastingEvening

Elvis has been surprising me to start the season. Hope he keeps up the form. Maybe it really was Manny all along.

  19. warlink05

I think we need a new sponsor for the power play if they don’t get the power back on in time and delay this to an ungodly time for this day of the week. (Going with a different angle since the other one is already a dead horse)

That Fantilli goal is a beauty to see.

  20. rattrocks

went to my first cbj game tonight and i am an extremely unlucky person, so my apologies everyone this one is on me

  21. Tucker897

Was at the game powerplay still needs more work 1/6 is better than 0/6 which guaranteed they get none if it was last season but cmon they should’ve at least scored 2 maybe 3 powerplay goals. Also to the individual who was waving that Michigan flag around put that thing away. There’s children here.
