  1. Jesus Christ, we have Colorado on Thursday?

    Here comes 2-5.

  2. cullingofwolves

Call me a doomer all you want, but man I feel like the rose colored glasses from the off season came off. I saw everyone writing off this team as “barely making or likely missing the playoffs” and was like wtf? But man, all the worst of this team over the past 6 years are on display for the world to see and I’m understanding the sentiment of a lot of those analysts. Is it Sully that needs to go? Is sitting Carter really going to change anything? Man, idk but this blows and we’re hardly into the season. I’m here for the team regardless, but I hope this isn’t what the rest of the year looks like.

Same old same old. Everyone still sucks but mostly Sully.

  4. ZombiePancake45

Watching your teammate get rocked on the ice and have no emotion the rest of the game. Congrats on your game checks, seems to be the only thing this team cares about

  5. magdeburgj

What’s the opposite of gg, because that’s what that was

  6. DogsOutTheWindow

Why do we face the next vezina trophy winner every game?

  7. mgoodnight101

They can’t score or make saves. I’m not expert, but it seems tough to win if you can’t do either of those things.

  8. thecarlosdanger1

    Coaching staff needs to go.

Pens haven’t won a playoff series in years and you have maybe 2-3 seasons left with the core. Have to roll the dice

  9. BeBopNoseRing

I watched 4 games so far this season. Guess which ones.

  10. i dont get it, when film sessions happen, does that trash ass PP pass their eye test wtf is this coaching staff on?

  11. tinygaynarcissist

    I could’ve been watching the Great British Bake-Off. :/

  12. Problems with this team are two fold…

    1. Coaching. There’s a reason why coaches don’t last this long with one team in this league. His system does not match this roster and assuming it was his decision to bring Reirden back, it’s a bad indictment on him as a coach. I really feel like this team isn’t responding to him anymore either.

    2. Roster construction. Dubas did a great job with getting Karlsson and getting rid of a ton bad contracts and dead weight from the Hextall era. However, and while I see what they were trying to do with the bottom six, you cannot have only two lines that generate any sort of offense and expect to win in this league. You just can’t. They needed to get at least a couple guys in the bottom six who can finish and that’s absolutely a failure on Dubas for not addressing. Hopefully he does with a trade.

Powerplay has to be at least 25% too if they can expect to win since only the top six can produce any sort of offense. Besides a coaching change and some much needed moves to improve the bottom six, I don’t see this team doing much this season at all.

  13. biggamebryan_17

I’m done entertaining people who still think Sullivan should be the coach of this team.

  14. SteelPenguin947

I’m not sure how to feel about Sullivan anymore.

I was willing to give him a pass for last season. Given his past record with the team plus having to deal with Ron Hextall, I was willing to give him a pass. Now, you’ve changed ownership, management, and players. Coaching is the only thing left.

It’s only 6 games into an 82 game season, so I’m not on the “Fire Sullivan Immediately” train quite yet, but if things don’t improve soon, maybe a coaching change would help. I like Sullivan, but I don’t know what else the Pens can do.

  15. Power play sucks balls.
    Bottom 6 still anemic.
    Carter needs LTIRetired.
Rakell needs to sit after that performance.
Coaching staff has hit it’s expiration date

  16. ODMtesseract

I’m confused, the Pens have to make a genius passing play to score and the other team’s guy are like: “Let’s do four perfectly convenient bounces, popping up from the boards, down the pant leg of that guy, hops over the stick of this other guy, and finally it hits the post and bobbles in off the goalie. Hmm, yes. Simple geometry.”

  17. user832906

Way to take all of the excitement about this season and ruin it right off the bat. Perfect start!

  18. There’s not a single rational point in keeping Sullivan anymore, it’s like a relationship that is crystal clear to absolutely everyone (including the people involved) it went past its expiration date.

Hope Dubas don’t keep him based on a dumb “it’s early in the season bro” and let the guy go, better for him, better for us

  19. Let’s just keep not giving it to Karlsson on the powerplay, Todd.

  20. LazerMcBlazer

There are arguments to be made both ways of whether Sully deserves to get canned, but the reality is, he and his staff HAVE to go for this to have a chance at getting turned around with the speed needed to make the playoffs. Because things look so completely broken that any fixes from within will take more time than a shock to the system that firing him would cause.

  21. SumGreenD41

Same shit as last year. Sully isn’t much longer for this team. Need a new voice

  22. They are simply getting old and slow. Aren’t much the GM or the coach can do without inventing a time machine

  23. _outlaws_

I’ve had enough of Mike Sullivan. Most stubborn coach in the league. Keep the run and gun system with 80 years olds

  24. Averyboredpenguin

We looked so solid in the first and then just poof we forgot how to hockey

  25. It’s a bad system, it’s bad effort, it’s a bad talent imbalance. And it’s boring. Ugh.

Aside from all that, I hope Ludwig is alright but man do I doubt it. He looked like half a corpse when he was down on the ice. He was looking good before that too.

  26. Silverknightowl

Lets start with Reirden and work our way up as needed. Depressing performances.

  27. Alarmed_Ad_6749

Sullivan is going to be fired soon if they continue to have no energy in the second half of games. Third pairing on D was a glaring issue that I pointed out and its on full display now. I believe Dubas can make the right moves, sully being the first casualty is a definite possibility.

On a side note, what do people think about Letangs play so far. In my opinion he looks confused about his role and uncomfortable.

  28. zachismo21

Lots of Stars got their first goal or assist tonight…

  29. hammertown87

We are going to get killed by the avs.

Watching them now and holy fuck they fly

  30. sacer-esto

My pappy said “Sully’s gonna drive me to drinkin’, if he don’t do somethin’ bout these gottdamn Penguins.”

  31. SpartanDragon

The Penguins had a choice between winning or hell. They chose hell. Sinning and not repenting will not earn the Stanley Cup and heaven.

  32. lurker_343

I know that it’s early and I don’t want to be dramatic, but I think that the Penguins are one of the teams in the league.

  33. Butt_McButtson

Barring a miraculous turnaround, I just can’t see any scenario where Sullivan stays and this team gets better. I’m just wondering how bad this gets. Because if all the Sullivan naysayers are right–and I count myself among them–there’s going to come a point where it’s obvious he needs to go. It’ll then be a matter of if Dubas can convince FSG that firing their BFF, who has a new contract that hasn’t even kicked in yet, is the right move.

  34. trent1313

Good first period and I like Zohorna. Bad everything else

  35. Cheeks_Klapanen

I said this before, but I’m gonna keep repeating it.

Whatever it is that this team needs to turn things around, Mike Sullivan isn’t gonna be the one to figure it out.

  36. Happy my Nuggets were back playing today so I had something else to watch. Absolutely pathetic.

This Avs team looks like a juggernaut again, could be a rough one next game.

Reirden needs to go and something needs to be done about the PP…if that doesnt work Sullivan needs to go. It looks like the team is tuning him out and I cannot remember the last time we played well for 60 consecutive minutes.

  37. tsmittycent

pens are in trouble early. bottom 6 still non contributors. Karlsson looks average, not worth 11 million. Only free agent signing with a goal is Zohorna. They aren’t getting to the front of the net. They just need to reset and need a new coach for that. Enter Gerard Gallant

  38. rybnickifull

I’ll confess I watched the highlights, not the full game, I know our defence is awful and I normally hate blaming the goalie – but Nedeljković gave up at least one goal with an irrational decision, right?

  39. Not to beat a dead horse, but I think this team is fine if they get another coach/system. Nothing against Sullivan – great coach in his tenure here. But the *types* of players this team is constructed with, just don’t work with his system anymore. It’s more likely a new coach with a new approach does more with this team as opposed to Sullivan trying to change all he’s known for a decade.

  40. Member when the Pens won a whole two games in a row and a bunch of people on this sub told us we were idiots for doubting them after the first game? I member.
