You guys are WILD. Yes he made a pretty bad mistake, but the way people are framing it, it’s like he’s the only Oilers player to ever make a mistake. We have to remember, the Oilers are a pretty disappointing team all around, and I mean that with love.
I enjoy the Edmonton Oilers and I want to see them win a cup, but the way they are now just isn’t going to achieve that, and it’s not just an issue with their goaltending. It’s a deep rooted issue with the entire team. Outside of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the entire team is struggling. Their offense, defense, and goaltending.
Not only that, but Stuart Skinner truly isn’t a bad goaltender. He does make a lot mistakes, but that’s also because he’s not as seasoned as other goaltenders and is still looking for his own style.
I truly hate it when he makes a mistake like this and people like to boil down his entire career to ‘look at this mistake he made, he should be traded’ when he has made truly amazing saves, picking up the slack for his defense. His stats from the last two years aren’t even bad, they’re respectable numbers.
Also, that mistake? Remember that time Frederik Andersen, Alex Nedeljkovic, Patrick Roy and multiple other goalies made mistakes like this? He’s not the first goaltender and he certainly won’t be the last to make that mistake again.
Sending nothing but hate his way definitely isn’t going to make him a better goaltender, so just wait it and hope for the best. He has a lot of potential, he just needs to get a little bit more experience before he can really tap into all of it.

Edit because I’m still mildly salty about this: You guys do also realize that he has been playing at starter level caliber for a single year, and in his entire career has only played 67 games? Like, you guys are aware of this? He is a rookie, he still learning the ropes of goaltending, and most likely won’t be at the level you guys want him for a least a couple seasons. Not because he’s bad, but because it takes time. It takes time to get experience, it takes time to figure a playing style, it takes time to get good? Unfortunately, he isn’t a generational talent that can pick it up no problem, give him time. That’s truly all you can do.
@35 seconds….next time do the same thing… Nurse was not skating wide open on the way in….he should have called you off…it was a communication miscue….someone has to be the Big Spoon and control who takes the ball just like in Volleyball. Its no big deal figure out whos getting final say in the future , park it and move on
