Locked on Wild POSTCAST: Ryan Hartman Records Hat Trick as Wild Blast Oilers 7-4

The Minnesota Wild exploded for 5 goals in the third period en route to a 7-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers at the Xcel Energy Center. The Wild trailed 1-0 after giving up a goal in the first minute of the game, before Marco Rossi tied the score later in the first period. After the Oilers regained the lead, Ryan Hartman scored his first goal of the night to tie the score at 2. The Oilers took the lead once again, and held it until the third period, until 3 straight goals by Ryan Hartman, Mats Zuccarello and Joel Eriksson Ek gave the Wild a 5-3 edge. Hartman completed the hat trick to make it 6-4 and Marcus Foligno added an empty net goal to cap the scoring. Filip Gustavsson stopped 25 of 29 shots to pick up the win. The Wild start a 3 game road trip on Thursday against the Flyers in Philadelphia.

  1. My thoughts on today's show
as hard as I am on our beloved team
I'm going to bring out the good from each game,. Letteri was the best back checking forward tonight, I'm impressed, I believe the fourth line has the potential to be the best fourth line in the NHL mermis was also very good
He closes the gap smoothly the big test
Is coming this road trip will tell the tale

  2. Three lazy man stick penalties in a row and four in the first period, they were playing with fire. Glad they were missing 97 or this could have turned out completely sideways.
Ek is truly struggling in the face-off dot and that line looked terrible at times. He is one of my favorite players but they were getting buzzed last night at times. Agree with Denny, 4th line is solid, and the big boys had it going. Kaprisov has the sweetest hands, vision, and edges period as he put on a show for our friends up north. We own Edmonton – 9-1 last ten, something like 22-3 over the last 25, another crazy hockey anomaly. Now I didn’t look that up but I know it’s ridiculous and close to accurate. We need to adjust the lines, try anything. When Boldy gets back – traveling with the team this week, stir the pot. Johansson, Boldy, Rossi could be interesting.
Lastly, 3rd D pairing – try anything, Merrill has regressed.

  3. Nice one time kick pass by Zuccarello on Hartmans first goal. In that moment, I’m not sure how many other Wild players would be capable of that.

  4. Another sloppy one, as predicted, but got the victory at home, as predicted. Lots to build on, and I feel like everyone who needed to score (just to get the monkey off the back) stepped up and took care of business.

Gus still needs MUCH stronger box-outs in front of him though, the overall team defense was pretty bad. But better than previous games, and the overall aura felt like we were still in it, regardless of score. Good win.

  5. Zuc pass and Ek goal might be two of the best plays we will see all season. Also your Rossi idea would mean Rossi get moved down to the 4th line mins. No way Dean holds Moose and Freddy accountable. The writing on the wall with Dean, look what happen with Sammy lately, same thing as Rossi last year. The young guy is held accountable and used as a scape goat and sent down while veterans are given chance after chance and never held accountable.

  6. Why the hell doesnt GMBG put Merrill on waivers? If he doesnt get claimed, then he's now in the AHL where he belongs. If he does, then he's someone elses problem. Maybe that's their plan by calling up Hunt?

    Next man up!
