A lot of people are still concerned with the New Jersey Devils’ goalie tandem of Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid. Both of them aren’t off to great starts statistically, but it’s not entirely their fault. Nico Hischier and Erik Haula returned to practice, but there’s still one Devils player who’s dealing with injury. Devils are set to play the Montreal Canadiens for Frozen Frenzy.

Shesterkin's #s are also terrible so far, that doesnt mean there's a goaltending issue. You can't leave guys wide open at the ladies tee. Defense needs to tighten up.

2 games isn't enough to say there's a problem with goaltending. I also think having all those off the days makes it hard to get into a rhythm and I think especially for goalies that rhythm is important. So once season evens out and they're playing on a more steady schedule I think they'll improve. The D will improve as well. Everyone except Dougie and Siegenthaler have started slow, but I think they'll pick it up.
I'd like to see Foote get in a game or two personally, I liked him better than Miller.
last year 10 games into the season Devils defence best in the league allowing 24 shot per game. This season Devils defence is one of the worst allowing over 32 shots per games. If not for our goalies Devils would have had 0 points rights now. Lol. 5-6 point blank saves every game!
They're both inconsistent, but Akira can actually steal games when he's feeling it.
