[Johnston] Spoke briefly with Abbotsford GM Ryan Johnson this morning about Vasily Podkolzin. Said Podz told him he was feeling great this morning. Was with him in hospital last night, was alert then as well. Obviously they’ll follow usual concussion protocol but feeling optimistic.

What a bullet dodged that could have been career ending and life changing.

Slew footing should be taken far more seriously than it is imo, especially when combined with a slam down motion. The risk of serious head/neck injuries there is so high. I feel like some ppl forget how hard the ice is sometimes… that shit is SCARY.

Throw the book at that plug. We need to deter that kind of stuff and punish him for rolling the dice on crippling another man for life. This is beyond just hockey.

You love to hear it. Hoping for a quick/speedy recovery.

This is so great to hear. JPat said he saw him this morning downtown walking around.
After watching how he landed on the back of his head/neck it could have been a million times worse.

I hope Kannok-Leipert gets his silky smooth mitts on that plug

I kind of worry about this, there’s no way you feel great after getting severely KO’d. There is relatively great, but not chipper like this lol. Podz has been too eager to be a team guy in the past, which makes me concerned he may be wishing himself into feeling fine. Does sound like scans and evals came back clean, but I do hope he takes protocol seriously and doesn’t ignore any symptoms.
