GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Avalanche (10.26.23) | Eller Scores His First for Pittsburgh

Tonight, the Penguins took on Nathan MacKinnon and the undefeated Colorado Avalanche. Reilly Smith wasted no time getting the Penguins on the board by ripping a wrist shot from between the hashmarks just under five minutes into the opening period. Smith and Evgeni Malkin continued their strong play together, with Malkin setting up Smith on a 2-on-1 opportunity later in the same period. In the 2nd period, Lars Eller notched his first goal for the Penguins exactly six minutes in. The final regulation period saw captain Sidney Crosby score his fourth of the season after Jake Guentzel created a turnover in the offensive zone. The captain now has seven points (4G-3A) through seven games so far this season. Goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped all 30 shots he faced, earning his second shutout of the season.

  1. This was a perfect full 60 minute game for us. Very little error and to shutout a team with high scoring potential is immaculate for Jarry. If we keep playing like this we should slide smooth into a playoff position.

  2. Nice I'm wondering will see some of these clips in patmacafee hockey is awesome segment hr does on his podcast this year since he's a home grown Pittsburgh Penguins fan and since join ESPN can show clips

  3. That’s probably the best game I’ve ever seen from Jarry. Nice win, all they need now is consistency.
