I worked for a team in the WHL and we would collect our 3 star votes with about 5 minutes left in the game.
The only time we would have a spot open would be for a game that was tied late and we’d put TBD based on who got the GW goal.
Not saying alll teams are done like that but seeing how this game played out I wouldn’t be shocked.

The 3 stars had probably already been written and submitted prior to the Carlsson goal. This happens a lot in these late comebacks when the media guys get complacent. Especially out East where they don’t stay up past their bedtime unless their team is on a west coast swing.
