Ridiculous. Educated fans like myself continue to be bypassed for these writers.

  2. More details at vancanucks.co/faber

I guessed he was probably going to end up with a team but didn’t think it’d be the main team, congrats Chris!

Ehh, can’t really count on that kind of position for objective coverage then. Bit of a loss, not too interested in whats more or less going to amount to an extension of team PR. Cool position for him personally though I’m sure. Not surprised that the team is investing more into its own media with how open they’ve been about not liking the town’s coverage lol

  4. Tracktoy

This will obviously cloud his objectivity. But i am pleased for him.

  5. Chipmunk-Adventurous

Well, he’s earned it. Always enjoyed his coverage of farm teams and prospects

Great for him. Always good to see hard work get acknowledged and get a big break.

What sort of things would he be expected to cover in such a role though? Obviously he now has to toe the team line now so we can’t expect the level of critical analysis we were seeing before

    Let’s go Fabes!!!

Pumped for the guy, great info and insight, put in the work and got the bag.

This is close to Canucks Navy right? I was kinda right

That’s awesome to hear. Going to miss him on CanucksConvo and CA but I look forward to reading his future stuff. I do hope he stays as an online personality tho

Respected and journalist in the same sentence. 🤪🤪🤣

They made his job official lol.

Other teams can’t poach his prospect knowledge if we hire him ourselves!

  12. SubbansBigBlackhawk

Hope they let him continue to write about prospects. He was never a professional scout or anything, but I swear he probably watches the Canucks prospects more than actual management lmao

    >Most significantly, Chris has demonstrated great passion for the Canucks development system, many times being the only reporter committed to the Abbotsford Canucks while constantly sharing updates from our prospects around the world. His passion runs so deep that he is currently learning Swedish.

I know the Canucks have kind of been “Team Sweden” for a long time, but I found this really funny that we’ve reached this point. Gonna cover the Canucks farm system? Better learn Swedish.

I’m wondering if building an internal media team in a market such as Vancouver is a way for the org to get ahead of and influence media narratives around the team to a greater degree than has been the case. It’s an intriguing thought for me given the way Allvin has talked about wanting to make the org a “safe” place for players and the reported bad vibes of last year.

Good job. Very likable and has great insight on the prospects.

This is huge news. Obviously his job will be to toe the org line, but damn if Canucks PR isn’t kinda knocking it out of the park this year so far. Like I really liked those JT and Quinn featurettes.

I think this is great for Faber. I’m not too worried about his reporting being clouded now that he can’t be super critical, to me I think the Canucks “internal media” will probably be less about analysis and more about telling stories and utilizing their access to the team to really find new angles for stuff to write. Profiles on players day-to-day workouts, reports on how guys are recovering from injuries, slice of life stuff.

It’s a net positive for the fans, imo.

Good for him on a personal level, a more stable gig. But now his analysis is essentially worthless because it simply can’t be trusted as being one man’s personal opinions anymore.

  19. _HoochieMama

Good for him but I don’t really care to hear from media that is controlled by the team frankly.
