Very close and entertaining game but very frustrating and I enjoy it better when we win and dont lose guys due to hits and injury. Would also prefer if the refs weren’t fucking horrible all night letting Comrie die on ice or only call delay of games against us

I don’t know what to say. Every single thing about that game was frustrating.

why did ukko-pekka luukkonen allow the sabres to get outshot 49-3 in the third period? is he stupid?

  4. canintospace2016

Ah well, the overall effort of the team has me less concerned about the season overall, we’ll get there

  5. Rockhardwood

I appreciate Casey still having the dawg in him at the end

Refs, Injuries, and mickey mouse goals deciding a game where the Sabres play well and score 4. That is infuriating.

In happier news, Mason Jobst hat trick in Rochester. 7-4 with 4 minutes to go.

  8. No shame in that one, played their hearts out, short handed, against a great team. Would have liked to see more shots in the third but a fun hockey game.

We must lead the league in deflected goals against. Gotta clear the front of the net

That’s the 3rd time this year we’ve given up the go-ahead goal in the 3rd period to lose in regulation. Can’t have it if you want to make the playoffs

  11. 3 shots on goal with 3 minutes left in the 3rd. It felt like every pass was fumbled or jumpy. We were skating so slow that it was almost physically painful to watch. We didn’t even lose battles along the wall, we weren’t even there in time for it to be a battle.

Not sure what more there is to say about this one. I guess some players had some nice goals. But from a team-wide perspective… burn the tape.

Wish we would have had better offensive presence in the third, but overall Buffalo played a solid game against a proven Devils squad. We are going to beat the next time.

It’s unacceptable that professional hockey players look absolutely gassed after a single game where they had 2 days off beforehand. They are (supposedly) elite athletes. I don’t see the top teams having this issue. They aren’t “old” and worn out. We are the youngest team in the league. We should be beating teams with our energy and stamina. What the fuck is going on here.

  14. Can’t go 18-4 shots in the 3rd period and expect to win most games.

  15. canintospace2016

Will say tho too, the avs game Sunday is gonna be T O U G H, sure we got the goat heads and we’ll be thirsty after this but it’s gonna be quite the fight

Let’s just call it like it is, Sabres didn’t play good enough to win. Enough about the refs. Shots were 18-4 in the third period. Unacceptable for a team that’s supposed to be a playoff contender

  17. This doesn’t feel any different than last year. Where we are supposed to see the improvement that pushes us into the playoffs?

  18. CKYCounselor13

We can blame the team all you want, but its honestly not thier fault. The commentators jinx is undefeated. Game was over the second Rayzor said “we know they’ll win tonight now that they’ve scored first”

  19. deGrominator2019

Oloffson invisible again. Why is he still on the team

  20. Welcome to Sabres hockey. You have offense, goal tending and defense. You have to pick one

  21. I can’t even be mad, boys put up a hell of an effort

  22. SpartanDragon

1.) Do not allow shorthanded goals on power plays.

2.) Never play the zone. The objective of the game is to play the puck in the neutral and opponent’s zone, not in your zone. This explains the shots and goals against.

  23. budboomer

Regardless of the outcome tonight, the issue with this team is not losing a close one to the Devils on the road, it’s losing to Montreal and Calgary at home.

  24. Someone make me feel optimistic again. Seriously. My comment history will back this up, I’m recklessly optimistic when it comes to our boys. But dammit man this is not feeling like our year. They just genuinely don’t seem to have even addressed any of the key issues they were having last season. Scoring hasn’t returned to form (though the last couple games’ numbers give me hope), they’re still not really pressing the net, still passing too much looking for the snipe, PP is still a meh-fest (largely due IMO to the aforementioned passing clinics), Jacob Bryson is still on the team, Victor fucking Olofsson is still on the fucking team, and (here’s where the downvotes roll in) UPL still has no glove and no agility and lacks awareness of either of those facts. On a related note seriously though why is it so forbidden to criticize him in this sub? It’s honestly weird. Players have faults. All of them. We can be honest about his. He had a couple stellar saves tonight too.

I don’t want to argue or fight with people. As I said, I’m pretty fucking hopelessly devoted to this team and always will be. I’m not conveying this in a doomer tone but more of a “what’s it gonna take?” I know the popular comment RN is time. Time time time. Give it time. We tried that last season and we still missed the bus..But I guess in part that kind of answers my question doesn’t it? Give it time and trust they are stronger than last year? Maybe…

See this is where the reckless optimism comes in.

Addendum: GGs to Lindy though. If we had to lose to anyone it hurts less that it’s him. I guess in retrospect the Devils are a team they’re saying is gonna be a lock for Cup contention this season, so there are worse teams to have to lose to as well for sure. Just really sucks that it felt like they weren’t playing anywhere near their regular level, not even peak.

  25. notPatrickClaybon

    I’ll be honest… I don’t think UPL is a good goalie.
