Jonathan Huberdeau is a pretty surprising player. Not that it's surprising he's playing medicore, but moreso that he conned Treliving into giving him 10.5 million dollars.

I knew there was something Tampa liked in Johansson there’s no other reason they would give him the backup role especially one that was gonna be bigger this year after Vasi was tired and overworked playing 60+ games
I would rather get rid of torts, I knew he would have to change coming to Philly and actually develop young talent. If he isn’t developing that aspect of his coaching he can go somewhere different cuz that’s LITERALLY all I care abt this year, development of our young players.
I think that Trevor Zegras should be on the surprising list as well. Only 1 assist in 7 games

Beniers not getting that 8.5 x 8. Would be nice if the Kraken brought up Wright to push him a bit but that’s not their way

It's way too early to praise or call players out. That said, it is fun to see where some of these players are at and whether they will continue on their path.
One player who has played surprisingly well for the Sens is Ridly Greig (5 points in 7 games with +/- rating of plus 7).
As a habs fan I’m honestly just happy for KK, only like 5% jealous
kotkaniemi is going to have a career season if he can keep up this pace. really has come into his own as a second line center for the canes who has adapted to playing with the other skilled top forwards in carolina like necas and teravainen. watch out for him this year fr
