The book you speak of on Tunney is very good but leaves lots of things unanswered about Tunneyās life after boxing.
Basilio beat an ancient Robinson.
Between Carmen and Robinson it was country mouse vs city mouse. Carmen was the country mouse. Carmen was ignorant of the terrible racism and bullshit Robinson put up with. They would not give him a WW title shot when he was the number one contender for years and refused him a LW title shot but gave the shot to Sammy Angott the guy Robinson just beat. Ray had a reason to be distrustful. In his prime Robinson easily beats Basilio and Fullmer. He was fighting on memory when he fought those guys.
First rate interview 86, very enjoyable
