In other news, I bought my stadium series tickets today. Now just need a blanket for the gf.

  2. ridgeraider21

I am happy. This team is undoubtedly different. They will eventually hit a rough patch, as does every team but I really think this team is different. Goodnight.

  3. Rozzlin

CAN I GET A YURRRRR? is this the best start to a rangers season in recent rangers history ? Please don’t twist my arm

  4. Crimson3312

Seeing the penguins suffer brings me joy

  5. amusing_a_musing

Team didn’t look as sharp tonight ( turnovers, missed passes, bad changes). Just got a sense that team was coasting and was hoping to just steal one.

I cannot believe they pulled it out. Typical Rangers hockey would have been to fold after going down 2-1, or lose a heartbreaker in OT after Nucks tied it up late.

    And yet here we are

Gustafson makes some mistakes but overall he’s a solid bottom pair D.

The 4th line along with Wheeler is cooked. They have no speed, no possession, no shutdown ability. Bonino and Wheeler need to pick it up but I’m praying Othhmann can slide into the top 9 by end of year, Cuylle slides down to 4th line, and we can pickup a boba dude 4C

IGOR – OMG. We are fortunate to be able to go straight from Lundqvist to Shesterkin

TLDR: not the best win but a wins a win

  6. jerejeje

I will admit that Kreider definitely should’ve been called for a trip at the very end but Canucks fans acting like any of the refs were against them the whole game leading up to that are insane. Every penalty that led to a Rangers 5v3 was an inarguable penalty and the Canucks had 6!!!!! powerplays

  7. Key-Tip-7521

On this late, late night version of ***Rangers After Dark: It’s Miller Time,*** this game was truly, truly, the definition of insanity. A back and forth game where both teams deserved to get the points. On a night where it was sloppy, more special teams goals than even strength, this was a game where the saying “finding a way to win” comes into play. And now, I’l try to make this review brief

1st Period: Lots of closeness in this game. Until the Bald Bread get’s on the score sheet. Artemi Panarin.. (whispers) Eto tsel’ igry v sile! (google translate and you’ll know what it is). Sloppy turnovers.

2nd: The zebras really took over. lack of disciplined for both teams. PPG given up by a former Ranger(checks off bingo card). But again, the pk looked good tonight.

3rd Period: Just as I was fading and ready to go to bed LIKE EVERYONE HERE, the intensity occurred. More like, the insanity. A short handed goal given up to the human giraffe known as Tyler Myers. But then, Adam Fox got the role of redemption. Adam Fox got the goal to tie the game. Adam Fox (whispers) It’s A Power Play goal! Foxy clean, Foxy smooth, Foxy scores! SUCK ON THAT QUINN! Later, Mika finally get’s the piano off his back and adds to the tall. Mika Zibanejad, (‘m not gonna say it. It’s late). Just when you thought it was over, the Canucks equalized. And we headed to OT

OT: This game, and OT reminded me of the Leafs game in the 21/22 season. Igor made a HUUGGE save on Kuzmenko more like two of em. Lot of open ice 3 on 3 is legit fun/stressful to watch. Until, on a susy play where Kreids looked to have tripped EP40, Kreids spin around pass to Key for the GWG in OT. OHHHHHHHHH BABY!!!!

Overall, this game both teams deserved the points. the Canucks look good so far. It was an ugly win, but, this was a game where the Rangers got the win. Could the Rangers fix this, of course, this isn’t the way to play the whole season and possibly the playoffs. But, more importantly, Rangers win! and ***Rangers After Dark*** briefly ends for now.

Onto the hockey Jets. Not the football team who play duh Giants. This game was something. Onto the Jets

Late night Oppie informs us to “Take in the sheets.” 2 points in the bag and a four game winning streak. Oh and one more thing, go to bed!!!

God Save the King. Back afta dis

  8. duckets615

Had an atrocious goal review callback last game. Got a no call in this game. The zebra’s taketh and the zebras giveth. Thus worketh the hockey world.

  9. iiKrOna

Got a Reddit cares message and I only commented in this thread about having a high heart rate lmao gotta love hockey Reddit

  10. Envelopen

1-0 in OT?! Consider me in the Lavioli hype train.

  11. JuliusDiamond

That did not feel like a game the Rangers should’ve won… But they did, and that rules. Onto the next one!

  12. lionson76

Show of hands, how many people got a Reddit cares message tonight? 🙋

  13. username987MPD

Props to Igor for what might be the save(s) of the season. A wild win when you consider all the referee activity, but a win is a win indeed. We absolutely take those for road games. Canucks get their earned one point. On to Winnipeg where Hellyabuck looms…

  14. TheIncredibleHork

The Hork’s Vibe (On The Way To, and) Inside 305! From Rogers Arena!!!

    * Air Canada from EWR to YVR: Quite a comfortable flight and great experience. Just a little turbulence over Minnesota and Montana. Highly recommended.
    * But if I ever again get the idea to wake up at 5am, take a 6ish hour international flight **and** try to see a 10pm (EST) game on the same day again, someone ***please*** get Mika to one timer a shot into my knee to convince me otherwise. Kinda like what happened to the linesman tonight.
    * Downtown Vancouver: Beautiful city. Reminds me a little of Manhattan under the Brooklyn Bridge.
    * Reaction to wearing a Kreider jersey at Rogers Arena? Couple cheers, couple playful boos, but there are a LOT more Rangers fans here than I would have expected! And everyone was just so nice.
    * Rogers Arena: very nice, easy to get in and out, they have game worn players equipment for sale here! But the bathrooms remind me of a local rink…
    * We have our traditional intro videos and New York hype. The Canucks have a Star Wars inspired intro. And they lean heavy on the indigenous people heritage/diversity of the city. But then they had some weird Vancouver vs AI Rangers promo thing that was just… Weird…
    * And again, all the staff is friendly as hell! Shoutout to the folks working the mags and Doug working the 305 entrance. Canada, never stop being so nice.
    * OK, enough of that. GAME TIME. Rangers looked ok, Canucks playing hard after a big win yesterday over the Blues. Honestly at times they really looked to be the better team.
    * Arena was surprising quiet early on despite the Canucks fans in attendance. Sitting next to a gent who called himself (or maybe I just started calling him) Mr Canucks Fan and he said it’s a similar problem with the Garden: expensive weekend game and lower bowl full of people who either got comped tickets or their folks bought it for them.
    * Hell, there were a FEW Let’s Go Rangers chant in the first! They got drowned out quick though.
    * Fox with a HECK of a hip check! Love to see him getting physical.
    * UFC time with Trouba and Dakota Joshua that led to the first penalty. Bad luck on them for that delay of game after that. Which led to…
    * BREADMAN! Beautiful snipe on the 5v3. Good to see Zibby get a point.
    * They dedicated a section of Rogers Arena after a section worker and fan Vern Frick, who recently passed away after 27+ years with the Canucks. Very nice moment.
    * Bro… How the Canucks gonna do a Ghostbusters busting the Rangers (the cross the streams scene) promo? I get Dan Aykroyd is Canadian but still… #ThatAintRight
    * Again, we’re getting good possession, definitely playing with heart, but so is Vancouver even on the back to back. DeSmith was having a decent night.
    * And we had like 3 or 4 posts on a row in the first. Damn!
    * ~~Junior Rangers~~ Junior Canucks! Kid on the white team sniped a far corner shot!
    * Second period was all Canucks. Seriously, this was one of those “I wish we would play a full 60” periods. 5 shots? REALLY??
    * Bread, holding? Really? Fuck.
    * JT Miller with a nice tip in from Hronek. Just left alone there. This must be what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a Kreider tip in.
    * So Vancouver’s kinda version of Dancing Larry is Crazy Pete, who does the drum beat for the GO CANUCKS GO chant. Dude apparently does *every* major sport in Vancouver and knows everyone. My Canucks friend was surprised we don’t have a similar hype man.
    * Second Intermission, first time I’ve ever seen them replace one of the dasher board ads mid-game. Looking back at pictures I took, they replaced all the ads in front of the benches. Weird.
    * They’re looking to give away a car, a Toyota B-ZED-4X. ***ZED????*** Never change your alphabet, Canada. Blue line shot to the net, same little hole as the Rangers, no winner. Damn shame.
    * Third period: it’s clench time. First was our period, second was theirs, third was all out war. And by this time the Vancouver faithful were in full swing of cheering.
    * That short handed goal was awful. Botched pass, but don’t worry! Mr. Canucks was saying all night Tyler Myers was overpaid and under performing (think Goody but a hard worker and just the nicest guy, but also making $6m AAV and underperforming). There’s no way he’ll score. That’s why they call him Tyler Minors. **Glove side top corner.* * Broski went *nuts*. Started a Tyler Majors chant.
    * Fox’s goal was pure deflection beauty. It’s been interesting to see how often the defensemen are down by the goal on the rush and on the extended pressure. Definitely a change since the Turk days.
    * SO good to see Mika back on the score board. Hopefully this gets the monkey off his back and he gets back to being a regular on the score sheet.
    * Vancouver had their own “Dancing Larry” style guy tonight, apparently he won some Canada Just Dance type show and rocked it to some old school Backstreet. Bro had the moves!
    * Filda, there were a *billion* things you could do over grabbing the puck. But actually the rest of the arena thought the Canucks were getting hit with a tripping call. Set us up for killing a penalty after which…
    * Soucy just had a PISS MISSILE, again to that glove side top corner. Someone a little while back was being a bit of a jerk ragging on Igor about it, and while the method was obtuse, the final message isn’t wrong. Benny gotta work on that with Igor.
    * Overtime was a butt clencher. The whole time. I forget who it was but we had one moment where we botched it in our zone and I thought it was over. But Laviolette drilling the guys on 3v3 has worked out well.
    * And while I did complain about Igor’s high glove side, he’s still the best damn goalie in the league and had a FLURRY of saves that left the building in awe. Igor really is, overall, that damn good.
    * Also by this time the Stanley Park beers had taken their toll and I was not being mild mannered and I was yelling for Igor, hopping up and everything. Good stuff that Stanley Park beer, I liked the Trail Hopper IPA more than the very hoppy Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale, but both were bangers. Another recommendation by the Hork.
    * Mr Canucks agreed that it was a good non-call, but not everyone in the building agreed on the play that led to the breakaway. Kreider with the patient pass and K’Andre with the game winning goal in OT was a beauty.

Overall, I think we got lucky here. Both teams were strong, especially Vancouver being on the trail end of a back to back, and we needed those PPGs to pull us through. I like the defensemen coming down to help on the rush, but we still have to get it done 5v5 and not just on the power play. That being said, we’re still doing a hell of a lot better than I thought we would have, and we’re only getting better overall. Laffy was not on the score board but he came close with a sneaky shot that tried to get through the gap between DeSmith’s head and the post. Almost worked.

And Vancouver will be a problem come playoffs. They’re not messing around this year.

80-2-0 still a distinct possibility. 4th in the league is awesome.

  15. MUSTY_BUSSY

Did some salty Canucks fan send me a Reddit Cares message lmao

  16. Who_pooped_the_bed11

Got faced at a Halloween party. Missed watching the game. But goddammit boys. We’re on a HEATER. Love you all. LGR

  17. Stig12Cz

Just saw comment section at YT and boy. They are so salty

  18. Mysterious_Eggplant3

Guys, what if Mika only has one goal in the month of October?

  19. pony_trekker

Fox has 23 points in 8 games. Is that good?

ETA Whoops — he has 10 points, blueline has 23. My bad.

  20. whatsaburneraccount

I’d have to imagine at this point these guys are dying to get back home to sleep in their own beds. Love a win tomorrow but even if they walk away with a point, helluva road trip.

  21. Chinooks look good this year. That was a back to back game for them and they skated much better than us. We got lucky that Kreisler didn’t get called for a penalty but I need to see the replay. Regardless, I felt Igor didn’t look that great except for a few outstanding saves especially in OT. Overall a great game and probably one of the most entertaining one this year.

Our checking line is really concerning. They seem to play exclusively on our end and not really generating much offensively. We blocked a shit ton of shots and played way too much D.

  22. arunnair87

The more shocking thing to me is that we beat a backup goalie!

  23. jkman61494

The rangers had zero idea what to do even strength tonight. The way he became coach was shit but Tocchet has an actual system in Vancouver finally. They’re gonna be a playoff team.

I can’t think of a quality chance the rangers had 5 on 5. But god damn was Igor clutch and that power play was fire

I can’t even comment on who didn’t do well because the entire roster was in a funk 5 on 5 and the near total special teams battle for most of the 3rd completely messed up the cohesion of the lines

  24. Sleep724

Going back thru that non-call in OT looks like the Canucks player just fell on his own but it is hard to tell…

  25. -TheSkyAboveThePort

That’s a game we lose in regulation last year.

Way to gut out an OT win, awesome play from Key and Miller. That said, certain issues are beginning to rear their head.

5 on 5 scoring outside the 2nd line is non exisitant. It’s hard to criticize Mika and Kreider after they came through in the clutch, but their line 5 on 5 is our top line and is producing nothing. Kakko, yet again, seems content to just be a puck possession specialist who’s best trait is “doesn’t give the puck away.” We need him to take shots, cut the middle, make a damn play. It’s good that he’s not a liability, but we need more from a top winger than “isn’t a problem.”

Chytil had a tougher game with the puck, but given his play so far and frustration with not scoring a goal that counts, I’m not concerned.

    Wheeler….oh boy I think he’s done.

Speaking of done, if we’re looking for cap space, I’m about done with both Goodrow and Trocheck. Goodrow’s 3.6 to be caved in his own zone the entire game is awful, and while Trocheck is better, his turnovers and penalties too much for a 3rd line center, to say nothing of his cap hit. He’s got all the skill and ability you want there but boy is that brain of his no good.

Fox had one atrocious fuck up and then turned around to tie the game and take the lead. I’d prefer he weren’t so casual with the puck there in the first place, but he got it back and then some.

All of this complaints but we still got a win over a hot team, so I honestly believe the sky is the limit for this team. We just have to work out how to combat high pressure high speed teams, or we’ll be in trouble in the playoffs again.

  26. unibobbler

I’d say Canucks are the best team we’ve played. It was ugly top to bottom, we didn’t “deserve” to win, but it was fun seeing Igor do Igor things out there.

I made what i thought was a nice-ish comment on the Sportsnet YT highlight: “as a Rangers fan idk if i can admit it was definitely a penalty but i’d be mad if this went the other way. leafs suck habs suck” that kind of thing. Canucks fans were having none of it 😂

The comments about us benefiting from favorable officiating “AS USUAL” got me though.

  27. BernieManhanders23

Game full of ups and downs. Times where we didn’t deserve the win. Battling back after a horrendous start to the PP and getting the monkey off Mikas back was nice. Igor shined and kreids set up a beauty to K’Andre. All in all a great road trip but frustrating game at many times throughout. It won’t always be pretty, but a win’s a win.

  28. Independent-Switch43

That fuckin double save on Kuzmenko was ill
