11 goals below expected through 8 games is brutal. That’s more than a goal per game. So long as this isn’t a long-term trend, one would expect it to even out.
For the saves above expected chart for goalies, a good majority of them are well above average too (like 3/4 are), so a lot of goalies are playing above their ability as well. I’d expect that sometime soon those marks are going to start regressing toward their respective means

The dam has to break at some point. Ironically, the best the offense has played in terms of setting up quality scoring chances have come in the shutouts; most of last night’s game, and the 1st period against DET.

What Cole Sillinger said in his post game interview was about how even from the start they were low energy.
I want to believe and cheer on the team, but this is the third time I’ve heard that comment after a lost game and we are barely into the season.
