Hands down our best game of the season, they just looked so dominant against such a good team, unfortunate ending. If this team scored more on the PP, they’d be scary good. Not a lot of skill (aside from our first line) but my god they have so much heart and they play so hard for each other and their coach. Also, WTF are they feeding our goalies????

  2. willard287

We outplayed the best team in the league. If our 2nd line could score goals it’d be such a game changer

Not upset at all about this game — we played really well against a top team. A lot of fun to watch this team, so much fight in them even when down late. Cole/Suzuki/RHP was very good, Suzuki especially was buzzing all night — great to see him get a groove back. Barron and Guhle both great. Monahan’s line was also quite solid.

Slaf/Newhook/Andy remains brutal. Not sure I’m sold on Newhook as a center — he was much more effective at Dach’s wing (sad). Slaf needs a Monahan type for sure, wouldn’t mind leaving RHP on the top line and seeing Slaf/Monahan/Newhook. Xhekaj on the 2nd PP is a weird experiment — Guhle or Barron should get a shot.

Far and away the best game of the season against what’s probably the best team in the league. Really fantastic effort.

  5. keithman07

That was an awesome game. Monty was beautiful in OT. Suzuki continues to be disgusting

  6. Sentenced2Burn

Monty robbed of a birthday dub but hell, it was an exciting game

Also NICK SO FILTHY GYATT DAYUM

  7. gid_hola

my god this team is good. Give them some more time and they will contend with anyone

  8. Juraj Slafkovsky’s last 25 games

    0 goals, 1 assist, 21 shots

  9. HabChronicle

Superior propane with superior performance against a superior team

  10. MangoTango4949

Couldn’t have been more amazed and proud of the fellas performance tonight

  11. Habs_Apostle

Fucking hate Vegas. Got a point. You could tell the boys really wanted this one. Oh well, onwards…

  12. Curtoph

Newhook hit same post/crossbar as in game, unfortunate!

  13. Great game, proud of my team tonight. A win for the long run.

  14. OPsyduck

Compared to last year, we are WAY more entertaining and this is a good sign.

  15. Piggy_Bacon_

It was worth it to stay up late but unfortunate ending 🙁 still a great game !!

2nd line is having lots of occasions but unlucky, I’m sure it’ll click eventually

  16. douce_abeille

Nick is the only one scoring in the shootouts😩 They deserved better but we have to be proud of them. Man, heartbreaking ugh

  17. Red_Boina

Never thought I’d feel so good about a loss

  18. goatonaroof

    that was a heartbreaker arghhh.

hopefully we take it the right way, like we can hang with the best!

    monty, HBD.

my birthday is on thursday, hope we bury zona.

  19. We’re building something here. It may be a year or two away from its final form, but I’m loving that effort tonight. On another night habs win that 4-2.

  20. We might not have the most talented team, but god damn do we have heart and grit, and it shows on the ice

  21. Woullie_26

I’m gonna enjoy the brief moment of us being competitive.

Monty and Allen are playing EONS over their head at the moment

  22. Historical_Chain_687

Never thought I’d say this, but I’m very excited for Dvorak.

  23. sean_psc

That was Suzuki and Caufield’s best game of the season in terms of 5-on-5 presence. And since this was a significant game for Suzuki, he personally showed up bigtime.

The sooner Dvorak gets back and we can reshuffle the top six to include Monahan, the better.

Barron didn’t make the scoresheet tonight, but he had another strong game. The team just needs to ignore his pre-season results going forward and play him.

No win for Montembeault, but OT at least rescued what would otherwise have been a very undeserved save percentage relative to the quality of his play.

  24. ObverseNebula

Shootouts are the worst thing in hockey.

Who in the right mind, would watch that OT and want the game to be decided in a shootout

  25. Dominated the champs, basically lost to posts. Fine with it. Just need to tweak a couple things (separate Slaf and Anderson, put Guhle or Barron on PP2 over Xhekaj, Ylonen should be playing and on PP2).

    *BAD*

    – There wasn’t much bad about this game but as is tradition the bad comes first with a loss. Habs outplayed the Vegas team significantly but it’s an easy one when you outplay a team you deserve to win, but end of the day Habs only got one point.

    – Please don’t below get on me for this, it isn’t that deep, I promise, and if you are writing him off already that’s just plain dumb. But let’s call things objectively right now as well, Slafkovsky with another lacklustre game. Turnovers, slow decisions, confusion with the puck. Sometimes I see the “good shift” comments and it’s him making the most simple plays (which are good do not get me wrong but the bar is low rn).

    – Matheson a very rare off night. Just bobbling pucks left right and Center.

    *GOOD*

    – I mean something about late night hockey (when you have the day off work or school tmrw) no notifications on phone just me and the tv. Kinda nice eh.

    – If you are a casual Habs fan or whatever this is a team win or lose you are going to want to watch. It’s exciting hockey and we got that tonight. I even think we maaaayyyyyyy be underestimating the Habs a bit. They significantly outplayed the best team in the league right now.

    – I don’t hold that OT penalty shot given up against Suzuki. Guy tied the game, and had a great penalty shot as usual. Really good performance imo and he’s getting it together slowly after a somewhat slow start.

    – He can’t finish for crap, and I will gladly dunk on Anderson as you know, but he was better tonight. Even made a great back check stopping a goal.

    – Guhle is already a top 2 D. Everything he does is good, and his offensive potential is being a little overlooked.

    – Armia was solid again.

    – Monahan would like some stuff back but again he has a camp in the good.

    – Monty. Excellent!!!!! What a save in OT. Solid.

  27. HotForKreacher

Anyone got the overhead view of that double post?

  28. Sportsguy1223

Slaf has had a tough go the last few games.. Gotta change his linemates or potentially think of sending him to Laval for a bit. He looks like he has no confidence right now.

Barron looked great. Imo he should be on PP2 over Arber

Suzuki’s best game of the year easily imo

Also Guhle is waaaaay better than I ever thought he would be.

  29. goatonaroof

    suzuki, guhle and cole…

I wish OT was just forever

  30. BonjourLavache

Beautiful game from the boys, yeah it sucks to lose but I was excited the entire game! We are so entertaining to watch again.

  31. BigBoy990

Getting more frustrated with Anderson every game.

Dvo coming back hopefully means Monahan can be moved to 2C with slaf and newhook on the wings. Anderson can keep doing the same ineffective rush plays on the 3rd line.

  32. goatonaroof

monahan is on another generation of brain loll,

but for real, what he does around goal is soo cool to watch.

he outwaits what ppl in front of him have learned to react to, and exhausts their options until they shortcircuit.

it’s just icy and so smart.. keep him around slaf if we’re really trying to develop.

so much of what we see happening rn is our boys teaching themselves- a coach, no matter how good, isnt ever gonna teach what this team is doing within the lockerroom.

we should have gotten absolutely smashed tn, but we adjusted.
