Kinda reminds you of Zeno Chara. First Time someone took Chara on in Canadian juniors he beat the crap out of them. Wonder why anyone would fight him after that. If he wasn’t beating your head in he was throwing you around like a rag doll. I remember Robinson doing the same.
Canada always had a thing against French Canada and some times translated to hockey. That being said the refs sometimes let thing go.Then the games got out of hand, but Montreal back then not only had skill but also had some of the toughest players in the league.Savard,Lapoint Robinson.Gosh these guys were always tough.People can look at what caused the Richard riots.Get my gist.
What a powerhouse on the blueline! Never carried himself like a goon but he may have been the toughest guy in the NHL during those dynasty years in Montreal. Ask Dave Schultz what he thinks of Big Bird!
Flyers were scared to death of Larry Robinson. Schultz got clobbered by Robinson in a fight in the early 70’s. Also watch the video of Robinson’s hit on Gary Dornhoffer in the 75 Stanley Cup Finals. It was one of the hardest checks ever thrown. Gary Dornhoffer said he was spitting up blood for days. Robinson number 2 on my list of greatest defenseman. Montreal teams of the Seventies could beat you in all facets of the game. Mario Trembley was surprisingly a fantastic fighter also.
Larry Robinson toughness is vastly overrated by Montreal fans. In his career he had seventeen (17) total fights, against only ONE true heavyweight (Schultz).
Here, Larry jumps the aging Ted Irvine, and some people think this is what "tough" looks like.

Scrum
Those uppercuts were starting at the knees and finishing a foot over Irvine head…had he REALLY connected…obituaries might have been necessary!
Chris Jericho would’ve Body Slammed Larry Robinson if he was grown at the time! I would have if I saw someone Beating the Shit out of My Father!
.. To me, what's funny.. is that guy leaping… and missing, landing on the ice.. without contact!

You wanted the Big Bird on your side.

Tampa Bay will win the cup again, no weak points.

That might leave a mark.
His name was 'Big Nose' Robinson
There is a reason why Robinson didn’t fight much…….nobody wanted any part of him……he was an absolute stud on the ice……he did everything well!
