  1. This game was absolutely unbelievable. Montembeault played out of his mind most of that game and the Habs held the VGK in the 2nd period to 2 shots was it

  2. Try Slaf on the first lane, if it wont click, send him to Laval and bring Mesar there as well. Have the play together, make a potential line for the future. Send him to WJC.. After Dach injury dont experiment and force the NHL

  3. Monahan showed even last year, in the few games he played, that he should be part of the team.

Of course, if he only plays a 10 or so games per season due to injury, every year, then maybe you don't resign him or trade him. But minus injury, no reason to trade him.

Futures are fine, but winning during rebuilding is also needed for the kids' confidence.

  4. One of the most complete games I've seen them play in awhile, was super impressed, Barron is really starting to show his potential, poor Newhook hits 2 posts, he deserves better linemates.

  5. It was a great game. They held their own against a stacked team.

I agree with you everyone is so hard on Slaf but he has setup about 6 amazing chances just can’t seem to put it on the tape to a player that has finish.

How can everyone be so hard on Slaf in his sophomore year and not talk about how Anderson has zero finish. How many break aways does he need?

  6. The Habs are playing to win almost every night – hats off for the outstanding effort.

  7. Slaf is frustrating to watch right now. That’s clear. But everyone should relax. The Dach injury didn’t help any because he was perfect for Slaf, but it is what it is. He’s got a lot to learn but it WILL come. It might be three years though so patience is key. One thing they could do soon is have Dvorak centre the third line and then move Monahan to centre Newhook and Slaf. Anderson is not a good line mate for Slaf and Newhook is better suited for the wing.

  8. IMO, that was the best game I've seen them play this year. Glad i stayed up to watch. In fact they outplayed Vegas for most of the game. It was an inspiring game and yes I'm all in for an extension for Monahan going forward. You're right, he's only 29 and why trade him for potential. Tired today but it was worth it. GHG

  9. Habs are for real. Monahan is not going anywhere. Allen and Monty are both playing really well, and our Defense is not playing young, they play like vets. We need an upgrade on the top line. DO IT!!!!
    I mean Joshua Roy baby!!!

  10. MSL has this team playing as a "team" already. The future is looking bright. I thought Aiden Hill should have gotten an assist on the Monahan goal.

  11. Superhuman effort last night! Incredible! I stayed up til 1 A.M…..if we had had Dach, Habs could have won.

  12. Mr shoot-out, Nick Suzuki!!! Man that guy must have spent a lot of time as a kid practicing break-aways! lol. Caufield, not so much, he needs to use that shot if he's going to be in the shoot-out, not try to deke, that hasn't been working for him, he needs to focus on his strong suit, which is his shot. Suzuki is playing well, he had a slow start.

  13. I look forward to Habs getting more strength up front. Heineman, Joshua Roy. etc. Slaf played a little better last night.I hope the return of Dvorak relieves pressure on Monahan. We don't want to wear out Monahan. I think Gallagher was a litlle out of his league last night because of his size.I'd like to see him moved or bought out. Sorry folks. Armia, ok, but we want more. Evans, hmmm…

  14. Me thinks, this next game is Slafs breakout game as he attempts to prove that he is better than Cooley. If he doesn't show improvement he needs to go to Laval and hopefully he'll grow into the player he can be.

  15. Let me start with my nitpicky comments…Mtl still being very sloppy with their plays and giving up the puck unnecessarily at times, IMO I'd like to see Guhle/Barron/Xhekaj on PP1/PP2 rather than Matheson as someone other than Suzuki needs to give Caufield a decent one timer pass, too stationary on the PP…players need to move around to create some defensive confusion and Cole needs to mix up where he sets up (too predictable), remove Anderson from PP1 and plug in Pearson/Gally/Ylonen, I see flashes of what could be from Slaf but what has hurt him is losing Dach…he should play with an experienced Center like Monahan to help him. Harris is struggling…either move him back to left side D or let him sit out because he is a liability out there. Ok, on to the positives…best full 60min played by the Habs this season…far from perfect but encouraging esp against a top team like Vegas. Solid goaltending from Monty. The Suzuki we are use to seeing is definitely back. Guhle is crazy good defensively and has offensive IQ…my pick as a future Norris candidate. Regards to Monahan future status w/Habs…tough one…I feel it depends on two main factors…ie what does he want on next contract, what are other teams willing to offer. Easy to say Monahan fits in so well with this group of Habs BUT, how many good years does he have left in him considering his injury history and 2 past major hip surgeries. We definitely NEED a Monahan type player on this team to succeed.

  16. I find it unfathomable that Vegas could make some questionable trades/acquisitions and still win a Stanley cup. They traded high draft picks for Tatar which didn't work out then trade Tatar & Suzuki & draft pick for Pacioretty and then end up trading away Pacioretty for nothing and win the cup after that. Makes you wonder what the future would've become if Suzuki had remained in Vegas.

  17. Before the season started, (before Dach's injury) I said I can see the Habs win 6 of their first 10 games. People said I was crazy. Well guess what, they went to overtime with both Toronto and Vegas and could have won those games (got 2 points out of it) and have already won 5. They can still win their next game against the Coyotes and get that 6th win. They had a good start last season too with Monahan in the lineup. If this team can stay healthy (knock on wood) they can beat anyone. They have talent and a little luck can go a long way. Too bad I was sleeping. It looked like a good game from the highlights..
