Gagner is past his prime. He also is not pulling a top dollar salary. If he can contribute some leadership and production on the 3-4 line then good job.
Not unexpected. The Oilers need a 4C. Janmark is day to day (and he really isn't a center and Ryan hasn't done well there either). The other options were injured in the Bake (for a Center). A sound decision by Oilers Management. While we should not expect too much from Sam Gagner, he is still a highly experienced solid utility forward who has a long history with the Oilers organisation, who wants to be here and who has the ability to perform reasonably well with lower minutes on the ice. In addition, his presence allows the Oilers to not make the mistake of bringing up young inexperienced talent and possibly ruining their careers via lost confidence that they need to acquire in Bakersfield. Go Oilers!!
Still like to see a little more toughness added. Sucks that we missed out on Pat Maroon. Sounds like Gagner's hips have recovered from surgery. Should give his skating speed a boost. And now Patrick, as soon as you feel better which hopefully won't be long, time for you to get your interview with Sam. Go for it! Love to see it.

Sam is a smart player. We dont have anyone on tbe 3rd and 3th oine scoring anyways. At least he can play smart
