  1. Keep UPL in the net. The team is playing hard for him. I have to say Eric Johnson is a different maker. EJ is so smart in his own zone. Bryson & Joker look decent as well.

  2. We now may have a MASSIVELY awesome problem on our hands!

The Sabres have been wanting to give Biro a shot, but heā€™s always hurt right before a call up, then he has a game like this. They also want Savoie to make the team because heā€™s TOO good for Juniors and he canā€™t go to Rochester. Zach Benson is also showing he belongs in the NHL, but may be the odd man out, since heā€™s the youngest and the other two may be farther along in their development. Then thereā€™s the ā€œQuinn returning soonā€ added to the mix. Great problem to have, but which solution makes us better?

My answer would be, dump Olofsson for ANYTHING at this point. Although heā€™s better this year, move Bryson and use Ryan Johnson for a call up if thereā€™s an injury on Defense.

Lastly, finally decide if Comrie or UPL are going to stay. We need that roster spot open, because Benson and Savoie donā€™t belong in Juniors and after tonight, there NO WAY that Biro clears waivers again!

  3. The Sabres need to play better, with more consistency and discipline. They have almost no chemistry in terms of passing and basic timing. It's very concerning organizationally and I do wish Granato would fire them up better from time to time more. With that said UPL is looking confident and playing well, let's keep it up and stay motivated.

  4. If power works on his tenacity and not being such a passive and soft cream puff in front of the net and in the corners, he will be a top dman for years.

  5. First two goals were tip ins. Not on UPL at all. The saying goes ā€œno one asks ā€˜how?ā€™ They ask how many.ā€ Incredible game. Go Sabre!

  6. To be fair, it does take a bit of luck to get a shutout. The 2 goals tonight were off of deflections. The first went off Jokiharju (I think) trying to block the pass. UPL has had 3 very good games in a row. I'm glad we have a goalie that can steal games for us right now.

  7. that 2nd period was their worst period this year by far lol. Brutal but they hung in there and got some Goals in 3rd. they need to win these games for us to have a chance and they did. Can't all be pretty. I will take it. By the way Biro man. I was big on this kid during preseason I'm glad he was able to show his skill set tonight! UPL is staking his claim to be a goalie here. Go Sabres

  8. Two comments, both defense related. 1. Bryson should just be waived. If some team takes him, good riddance. We've seen him and know what he is and what he provides. He's so marginal that as the call up for the suspended Clifton, his TOI tonight was all of 8:23. There must be someone on the Amerks (Clague, Davies, Stillman) who can be recalled for a few games when needed who will hit someone in an opposing sweater and not get pushed all over the ice. Bryson has had his chance and he's failed. Time to move on from him. 2. Samuelsson…he was credited with 6 hits tonight but they must have been the most inconsequential hits on record. 6' 4" and 230 pounds and he plays like a wuss. All of his hits are typically along the boards and seldom are they made where it could really matter…clearing opponents from in front of the net. I know, the Sabres aren't a hitting team per se. But he's could be a beast if he started laying out some opposing players that camp out in front of the crease. Just a few checks from him in front of the net, where he just blows somebody up, would make opponents think twice before invading the crease area in front of our goalies. Word would get around the league quickly as well, that you might want to be careful when thinking about venturing in front of UPL or Levi, etc., when Samuelsson is on the ice. Right now, no one is afraid of him.

  9. Mittelstadt and Peterka are each going to put up 60+ pointsā€¦ā€¦and I expect Quinn to improve just as Peterka is

We could have an even scarier offense by the end of the season along with a totally improved defense and PK.

  10. Been saying for years we needed a goalie to steal us some games and upl stole us a game today. We had no business winning tonight but upl did it. I can never give up on a player again. Tage and middlestat proved that upl if he keeps it up will prove me wrong too

  11. Win or no but 15 shots in a game with that roster is a crime, no matter how blue and gold are your glasses. They need to do something about that or it's going to be another year of misery. UPL or no one can't hold this form for the season, everybody knows that.

  12. Happy for UPL and the win Wayne! Give him the start against Philly again this week.
No WGR out of state broadcast again, so I listened on Flyers radio. Canā€™t seem to the broadcast in PA.
If Hart is in goal and we take 15 total shots, not so sure we win this one. Hart came in with a .921 save %.
Couturier (no shots) and Konecny (5) were non-factors. They led the offense in TOI.
We really need to ramp up our shots. Or our tenders will have to post a .950 every night in 3-2 wins. We arenā€™t NYIsles.
Youā€™re right, we do need to win games like this. Letā€™s build on this win!

  13. Yes UPL definitely looked like he has matured into a goalie with confidence and he looked like he knew he was gonna control this game . Best I have ever seen him in nets the past 2 games.

  14. Plus Buffalo wears the Goats Head uniforms in the rematch on Friday night!! I hope UPL does get the start; he deserves it after two great games!
