Baker Fairburn Hockey Show – Don’t look now, but the Buffalo Sabres have won two in a row…

After dark edition!

Thanks in large part to solid goaltending from Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, the Buffalo Sabres begin November with wins in two consecutive games for the first time in 2023-24.

Kris and Matthew run through the Sabres getting grossly outshot in Philadelphia yet coming away with a victory.

Getting Tage Thomson and Alex Tuch going is obviously a great thing after getting those secondary layers scoring earlier in the season. Perhaps the team is on to something…

On those secondary layers, though, Kris opens his mouth way too soon about the Casey Mittelstadt contract situation, but ends up happy to have talked it through with Matthew.

Live chat questions get answered and the topic of neckguards is briefly discussed.

That and a heck a lot more.

  1. I don't think y'all gave enough credit to Tortorella and the Fly-boys. He doesn't have the talent, but he's got them working hard in all three zones, especially on the forecheck, which for me was the biggest aspect of an ugly 2nd period. A Torts-coached hockey team has always made the opposition earn it. Buffalo had been 1-4-1 the last two seasons vs. Tortorella's Jackets and Fly-boys being outscored 30-18 in the process. The fact that they were able to make it through the sludge and work through the frustration in this game to pull out a win is a very positive step in the right direction for the youngest team in the league.

  2. Taking about Levi and UPL is like talking about Rob Johnson and Dougie Flute, none are great at all. Levi might be someday

  3. Believe me I’d love to not look, especially after that game. Maybe Granato should demote Tage Thompson to the Amerks while he’s at it….putting he with Greenway and a rookie playing his first game is basically the same thing. Fire him now and get someone in here that doesn’t play favoritism to “his guys”. I don’t give a F who “his guys” are. This has gone too far. This is absolutely outrageous and of course Terry is just gonna sit back and ignore it all, per usual. They are not a good team and it’s 100% Granato’s fault. So sick of it.

  4. Great content, thanks.
Baker is best at 1.25 playback speed, and Fairburn at 1.5. Can you do split speed with your split screen?
