Are You Concerned?

OK Guys, it’s time to have a difficult conversation about Montreal Canadiens 2022 first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky. Who had a great pre-season, but unfortunately since the injury to Kirby Dach, he hasn’t been able to get things going with his new linemates.. Should Slafkovsky be sent to Laval? Or maybe just a simple change of lines could help? Let’s talk about it.

  1. I give him till 21, then if no good progress by that time, he is a bust. I am not a professional, just my opinion.

  2. Does Slaf play with Anderson? Slaf and Anderson go together like oil and water. Dach was like a soap molecule. Slaf would be better off playing with Joshua Roy in the AHL than playing with these line mates here.

  3. I wouldn't do shit before Dvorak's return. Those few games of relative* struggle are part of the growing process entirely.
*Relative : the team overall is quite succesful, which you can't be if your second line is all shite. There's a big chunk of the game this line is doing fairly right. They did not seem out of place at all against this still super strong Vegas team and contributed to pushing them to OT on their own ice which is some feat we'd have hardly projected last year, not many team will achieve it this year either. So let's wait for Dvorak's return and then see if such a reshuffle is still needed.

  4. Concerned? Whoever thinks right now that this guy is going to turn up into something is out for lunch , worst pick since……….ever. This guy has no skills or hockey sense. Anyway if you’re gonna draft a project winger with the first overall , better make sure to have dominating centres on your team

The thing about going to Laval is , if he can’t produce there right away than that would be it for him and sending him down would end his career, which shouldn’t be that long anyway

  5. It seems to me that the Habs are trying to turn Slafkovsky into a power forward. It takes longer for power forwards to develop properly.

  6. I was at the 1st game in Toronto, and he looked fantastic. I had high hopes for him this year. My hope is that when devorak is back 100% the second line will bounce back.

However, I would not disagree with putting him on the 1st line. Nothing to loose, he is already playing heavy minutes.

  7. I have no doubt in my mind slaf will be a extremely good player in the future no worries we're not supposed to be in the playoffs this season according to Tsn 😊

  8. One of the best predictors for future success is past results he’s never had great stats, to expect him to produce big numbers in the NHL doesn’t make sense. Having said that he could become a scary power forward when he gets used to his body.

  9. Juraj would had at least 10 pts if it wasn’t from the fact that Anderson have failed every single breakaway chance he has been given in the last 5 games

just like KK back then, his IQ is already there, but nobody around him can’t take the opportunities he been giving

  10. Juraj Armia needs to learn how to use his 6' 4" 238lbs to his benefit. He plays like he's 5' 7" 145 lbs. Send him to Laval so he can learn how to play like a pro.

  11. Anderson and Newhook definitely isn't the line combo for slaf. The two explode up ice and leave him behind with tough pass angles through multiple defenders.
I would put him on the 3rd for now, try him with dvorak, who takes his time more on the ice, and maybe someone like gallagher or rhp on the other wing. Make him be the physical guy on the line, on a line that doesnt lose him by the center faceoff dot. He'll have an extra second to scan his options, the pass options will be in easier positions for him, and itll be easier for him to identify what he has to do. One thing i noticed watching him with newhook and anderson is, when anderson and newhook go to the corners, slaf is lost, as if thinking to himself "if theyre doing what i was told to do i should probably do something else, but what?"

  12. Yes i am absolutely worried. 1OA has different expectations and he has NOT played to those expectations.

  13. Im not worried about him but I most definitely don't want him to be sent down to laval as long as the current laval coach doesn't change because I have no faith in him. In my opinion the best move would be to bring up Monahan to the second line when Dvorak comes back and put Newhook to the wing

Edit: Well that or trying Slaf with Cole and Nick
