Avs Beat Up on Blues to Get Back in Win Column, 4-1

Sometimes the right opponent comes along to get you back into your groove. Was it all pretty? No, but most of it was, and it was more than enough for the Colorado Avalanche to get past the St. Louis Blues relatively easy, 4-1.

A first period goal by Ross Colton ended the team scoring drought, then another was added by Mikko Rantanen on the power play to end that drought as well. St. Louis did pull to within 2-1, but you had the feeling the Avs were in command of this one. A couple more goals in the 3rd and that was all she wrote.

The line shake up we saw in practice is exactly what we saw in the game. Hello Riley Tufte and Kurtis MacDermid, goodbye (for now) Tomas Tatar and Jonathan Drouin. But should we expect that for the Avs next matchup this weekend against the mighty Vegas Golden Knights?

  1. Hilarious pulls on the soundcheck!

Soundcheck: Back in Business – AC/DC: it was good seeing the Avs get back to their winning form at home. Despite being close in shots, the Avs felt in control of the game pretty much since puck drop. I liked the Colton Goal and Woodzy needs some credit for doing the work on the board to set that play up. I Really liked that line tonight .

As far as Tufte goes, he looked good. Could he beat Drouin out for a spot in this team? If so what do we do with Drou?

  2. Since we can always depend on the Blues and Binner to get us back to our winning ways, I'm choosing my song as Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues"…

  3. My Band-Maid Sound check #8 has to be Order. It just feels like things are getting back to normal.

  4. Kinda sad looking at the STL roster.. they look the same but no bite or execution, and D is horrible. Avs were killing them in the 3rd Berube didnt even bother pulling Binner after Sammy missed the empty net

  5. Good performance, minus the 2nd period. I like Tufte on that 2nd line. Good to see Colton score. What has happened to St Louis over the last few year is puzzling to me. They had a really good lineup, but now many of those players are gone. Makes you wonder that if it happened to the Blues it could happen to any team in the NHL.
