A weird way to get to a 5-3 final score. Massive ups to Jack Hughes for some key faceoff wins and his defensive plays lately. Just making a certified game breaker even more impactful across the entire game.
Also really loving McLeod’s play as he continues to earn that top 6 role in Nico’s absence. And how about that powerplay? I grew up in the days of the Power Kill when it felt more beneficial to try and decline penalties. Absolutely insane to see how lethal it is now.
Winning is fun! Keep enjoying it and the process of learning to get better each game. Minny took both games last year, feels really good to take both this time around.
There is no doubt in my mind we can score on average, 5 goals a game with this team, however, our goaltending stats are awful and almost unsustainable. Our defense too shows up for spurts then dissipates (especially when in the lead).
Something’s got to give.

* Holtz heating up makes me moist
* I’m still on team Vitek despite that third goal. Second one wasn’t just on him. But still, what the actual fuck, don’t ever do that again or no more hibachi

I feel like this averages out to be a good game. Not bad enough to be “a win’s a win no matter how you slice it” but not good enough to be “we’re dining with Lord Stanley”
Hughes is creeping ever so slightly into the betting favorite for the hart. What an incredible year both he and Bratt are having.

Unreal to see 5 PP draws for Jack, and he won each of them. Put that on top of the best PP in the universe is basically a cheat-code.
Vitek had a good game but that third goal sucked. Our goalies seem so prone to letting in those life saving goals for the other team. Never can choke the life out, although the devils overall played a strong game tonight and definitely deserved the win.
Pp is like a guaranteed goal
I remember watching Edmontons powerplay last year and think “man how nice must it be to have such a lethal PP” and now I know
Holtz needs to be bumped up. The 3rd line has been pretty bad, Mercer really struggling and Lazar better suited for the 4th line.
Hughes and Bratt have been awesome this year.
But Timo Meier is on the verge of breaking out. Fantastic positioning tonight, got bad puck luck on the poster in the 3rd, came to Jack’s defense against Erickson Eck in there too. Watch out when Timo starts to put in those shots close to the net. It is coming…

Glad we got the win but some of our puck management in our own zone was stressing me out

Jesper – WOW, but I want to also give Mikey McLeod a shout-out. That guy will run through brick walls for this team. Stepping into Nico’s line and looking very comfortable. Plus – absolute dominance at the dot.

* We made it interesting there in the third, but thats just what Devils hockey looks like right now and a win is a win is a win.

* Some really good defensive zone work, but we still have a ways to go. Liked that we kept their shots on goal on the lesser end versus what the opponents have been putting up in terms of SOG earlier in the season.

* This wasn’t a come from behind win either! We were leading the entire time.
* And we beat a team that historically has always given us a hard time.
Tomorrow’s going to be a test because so far we’ve lost the second game of a back to back, so lets turn that around!

Felt like a really good game to be honest. Vitek made some huge saves early on, but did let a dribbler in to make us sweat. Team-wise they played maybe the most complete game of the year so far? Handful of mistakes that directly led to big chances that I would like cleaned up, but playing the way they are is very encouraging. Let’s keep it going against the lowly Blues tomorrow!

Devils are the highest scoring team of the season so far. Tied with the kings for 42 goals but devils have one less game played.
Jesper Bratt is seriously elite… the agility he has with maneuvering the puck sometimes just looks impossible.
This team definitely followed the model the Avs used in their rebuild;

Hischier=Landeskog
Luke=Makar
Bratt=Rantanen
Currently in the top 4 for goals for but bottom 8 for goals against. Offense and PP are obviously on fire, clean up the defense and goaltending and we’ll be cruising top 3 in the league again.
Couldn’t catch tonight – how did the goalies look? Holtz and Timo also seem to be in a groove? Or were the stat lines deceiving?
Luke Hughes 17th in points amongst all NHL defensemen, top rookie d-man in PPG. Has to be in the discussion for Calder at this rate.

I’m not liking the goaltending or defense….. it’s gonna be tough in games where the other teams goalie doesn’t allow more than 2 goals.

Did have to put up with the Minnesota commentary and it was genuinely one of the most biased I’ve ever had to listen to. It was almost Rangers level bad.

That was beautfiul, finally, a solid, solid game, one where you deserve to win and also win. Imho the first really complete game by Luke Hughes, great job. Good intensity against a team who played us pretty rough.
