18 points in 9 games, 2nd in points in the league
Me
Edmonton Oilers……8-1…..Thank them……how much hotter do you want?
Good
Well it starts at the coaching level. Compare last year to this year. It’s not Rocket Science.
Tocchett and the leadership group (Hughes, Miller, Demko, Pettersson)
Major buy-in and complete culture change.
Rick Tocchet. But then who's idea was it to bring him in? When you look past Tocchet's win/loss record before going to Vancouver, and actually see the improvements he made to, first the Tampa Bay Lightning, and then the Coyotes, taking them from last place in the league to a playoff berth in only two years, I'm going to give the GM/Prez tandem of Rutherford and Allvin credit for the turnaround. They've also made a lot of shrewd micro-improvements to the depth, speed, and work ethic of their player personnel. The energy is back in the room and on the ice with bit-players like Soucey, Lafferty, and even Friedman. DeSmith is also looking like a great pickup for low AAV.
It’s gotta be Tocchet. I think his credibility and how he played tough makes him demand from his players and doesn’t take BS. Of course the players need to buy in but I don’t think anyone there is tougher than Tocchet
Hughes and Hronek.
The other 4 of their D have been serviceable, but the Hughes Hronek pairing is similar to Toews and Makar for being maybe the best duo in the league.
Tochett…he's still a tough SOB and unlike Boudreau, who was a great coach, but too nice, you can't eff around with Tochett.
The oilers are responsible for the team’s hot start😂😂
It's the coaching staff.
I would say the resurgence of boeser is a big part of it him elevating his game to his best scince rookie year is huge and takes the offense to next level. Demko obviously looking phenomenal. Petterson and Hughes going off and obviously tochett and miller.
Philiy was 7-3-2 in the first 12 games past year
Canucks tearing it up and these "pundits" can only talk about East teams… the story is incredible for the Canucks but eastern bias wins again.
The schedule maker is most responsible. Vancouver hasn’t beaten anybody.
Same top core players as years past but today, different coach, different captain, different character players, better back up goalie, faster defense but most importantly the overpaid players who didnt really care about playing are almost all gone. To all those people who thought they should trade JT Miller and Beoser during the summer…. wow were you wrong. Kudos to the GM who understood that you cannot create order out of chaos. Chemistry is the hardest piece in a re-build.
Boston , Jersey , Carolina
Video is titled over Canucks. Talks more about Toronto. Gotta love leafsnet.
