Can you believe this, what on earth was Gower thinking here, the trap was set so obviously, McDermott bowled the obligatory deliveries down the leg side to entice Gower into the shot which had brought him undone on many occasions in previous series, and he falls for it too easily LAST BALL BEFORE LUNCH on Day 2.

Gower could only play one way….with panache!
Gooch the roundhead…Gower the cavalier……much rather have Gower!!!
Other than getting out, what has gower actually done wrong here? What exactly was the trap?
How good was Bill Lawrys commentary
I think…Graham Gooch was the greatest English batsman ever.
Gower would have been better if he had played for the Windies under Clive Lloyd.
I remember watching David Gower scoring 200 not out in the first test against India, a superb innings. He carried on in the same vein in the second test and was so dominating that I thought he'd get another 200. Then out of the blue when on 82 he shouldered arms to a straight ball on the off stump and was bowled. One of the most talented batsmen that I saw but he did things like this far too often for my liking.
Couldn't bowl to a plan more perfectly
'Slash outside off stump to 2nd slip'
'They do a rather fine lunch here, old boy. It would be a shame to rush it.'
It`s as if he was trying to land it just inside the boundary
This man was born to play but in a different time. In 80s the game was starting to toy with professional thinking and this was not in David's wheelhouse.
No he should have been playing during the day's of the "Don" and all the other enthusiastic and talented amateurs before amateur became a badge of Dishonour.
Great to hear Bill and Tony!
Gower was tired, he needed a lie-down. Never, ever gave a toss.
David Bowie of cricket
Match ended in a draw, but that was the one match England had the better of things IIRC? He did that get under Gooch's skin, but it backfired. You can say I don't what a man is thinking, but earlier in the tour Gower and Gooch were at loggerheads over the 'Tiger Moth Plane Incident'. That's why I make such a claim. Thankfully the two have fixed their differences.
Think he was shitfaced.
Do you have any of this test series at all, please? I love these old test matches đ Thanks
Gower was 64 carrot wanker, all the skill but just cant be bothered
Well apparently gowers first deliver faced in first class cricket went for four runs..
After this Gower was made captain and England went down the gurgler..
