  1. These guys might not turn out to be superstars, but they will be important pieces to the Rangers future. Part of the problem I think is that they are in the huge NY market with an overbearing sports media that makes its living by creating controversy where none exists.

  2. I think Kakko has been very solid. Puck possession wise he’s been a monster this year, and I expect his line to score more as the season goes on. Honestly I’d be fine with him not putting up a ton of points just for the sake of it. He’s a valuable player that we can hopefully sign to a pretty cheap deal after this season like Chytil.

  3. Rangers were just screwed on year picks in the draft. Unreal. Id trade all 3 for J Hughes, sorry. The rangers so far this year look just mediocre.

  4. If Wheeler doesn't get it together by 11-07-23 he's going to be gone. Belzile, Brodz and Othmann are ready to take his spot in the lineup. We have a long home stretch coming up starting 11-7 and Wheeler will be gonzo, my prediction.

  5. The new coach has done what the other two coaches could not figure out and that's letting the young kids play the position they've played for years and this has solved the puzzle.

  6. They are definitely all players with more upside to their game than they've shown. I agree, Chytil has more development to unlock and this looks like the year where all three of them will take another step forward as they're finally in a position to actually succeed the way the fans/organization want them to succeed. I mean since when is scoring half a point per game on the 3rd line with virtually no quality PP time not been considered excellent production? On almost any other team we would have seen these kids get a legit shot at the top 2 lines earlier in their careers, and to try and compare 3rd line ice time to Top 6 ice time is an apples to oranges comparison.

  7. Kakko is my favorite player of the bunch and always has been, so it's a little disappointing that he's not at least a point per game to start this season. That said, I've watched all the games and he looks good out there. My single biggest critique of his game is that he's not consistently aggressive enough once he has the puck on his stick in the offensive zone. Last night in the 3-0 win over the Oilers, Ryan Lindgren of all people had the puck below the dots and made a move to the middle of the ice for a stuff in right at the top of the crease. I'm watching this thinking, "Kakko! Why aren't you doing this at least once a game?" He's a dog along the walls fighting for pucks, but once he has it, he's a little too unselfish and at times plays it too safe. If there's nothing in the middle of the ice he'll pass it back up to the point. A smart, safe play, but then someone else winds up creating the chance. I want him to be a tad bit selfish when he's in control, make power move to the middle if the defender is cheating or over pursuing, and look for a chance to score. I think opposing teams know that he's not really a shooting threat; he's always looking to set someone else up. Btw – he's also been a bit unlucky. He's made some great passes and Mika & Kreider just haven't been able to finish at 5v5. If that changes, he should at least start stacking assists.
