GAME RECAP: Penguins at Sharks (11.04.23) | Crosby Celebrates 1,200 Games Played Milestone

Late Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins started their west coast trip in San Jose against the Sharks. The night was full of milestones: Sidney Crosby played his 1,200th career game, P.O. Joseph played his 100th career game, Vinnie Hinostroza made his debut as a Penguin, Jake Guentzel recorded his 200th career goal, Matt Nieto earned his 200th career point, and Erik Karlsson returned to San Jose for the first time since being traded.

The game started fast and kept pace for the whole 60 minutes. A minute into the game, the Penguins went on the power play. Reilly Smith got his first of the night. Halfway through the 1st, Smith got his second of the night, and the period ended 2-0. Pittsburgh put the pedal to the metal in the 2nd. Starting the scoring was Jake Guentzel. That was Guentzel’s 200th career goal. Vinnie Hinostroza also got his first as a Penguin minutes later. The Sharks responded with their first of the night, but that didn’t stop the Penguins. Before the end of the 2nd, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Matt Nieto each had a goal of their own, ending the period 7-1. Continuing their charge into the 3rd, Bryan Rust added to the scoreboard. The Sharks had one final response, which was quickly silenced by Malkin and Guentzel each getting their second of the night. The game ended with a final score of 10-2 for the Penguins.

  1. And R.I.P to Adam Johnson that was very terrible and tragic what happened.. Last I heard Police were investigating the incident.. Love hockey but I don’t like to see anyone get seriously hurt or die in sports.. Shout out to his family R.I.P Adam

  2. Couldn't watch the game live, was Blackwood pulled because of injury?

  3. We got sick of losing. Angry about it even. I kinda feel bad for SJ. I would have rather them wallop on Philly or the Rangers instead.
