Do goals scored on an empty net count against the goalie’s stats?

  2. pastpastdue

With a dry spell like Beniers is having, you just want to see him engage and play some physical hockey and make impact in other areas of the game. Problem is, he’s just not built for it yet, though I’m not convinced he will be. We need another high threat C to open it up for him and distribute some matchups away from him if we want him to find durable success.

  3. LC_From_TheHills

We are an inch away from being inaugural season kraken.

They know how to turn it around.

    Cmon guys.

  4. alienbanter

Started the week with a Kraken/Sounders doubleheader and double wins and ended it with the reverse. No me gusta. Hope we can get back on the horse next week

I’m so tired of losing to Calgary in our house!

At least the Firebirds beat the Condors at Bakersfield.

  6. Left4Bread2

The difference in energy and lack of hustle after the first was palpable, that shit was rough

  7. Is it time to start looking past the players and at the bench?

We don’t have star power sure, but we have the tools to be successful and it seems they aren’t being used properly.

The goal where Grubi starfished face down on the ice while 3 of our 5 guys didn’t even bother to skate back to the defensive zone after the Flames was pretty emblematic of our season so far.

Pretty lackluster effort against a team that’s been bad all season. The kraken did almost nothing the final 2 periods until the very end with the goalie pulled.

This is the kind of loss that you look back on at the end of the season if you’re a point or 2 short of making the playoffs.

I remember around this time last year, we were playing against a team who got 2 quick goals in the beginning of the 3rd to go up 2-4. But then the guys got going and scored a PP, shorty, and even-strength goal to claw their way back to win 5-4.

That team we beat: the Calgary Flames.

I’m not sure what my point is here, I just thought it was interesting and I’m a little mad about it.

    that’s uhm… unfortunately… kraken hockey… 😒

  12. BenadrylBeer

Spronger, Donato, I miss you guys

    Burky, Tanev…heal up pls

  13. MafeRaisin

That was really rough. Hoping they manage to sort out their game over the next couple of days. There were definitely some moments of greatness but those were outweighed by the bad.

  14. RyNoDaHeaux

    Bring back Donato.

    They need some fucking leadership

  15. juanthebaker

How do we get better in that 30-50 minute range? That’s been the problem all season.

  16. MAHHockey

Shake that one off boys. First kinda bad game since about the Rangers game.

Watching the replay, the 4th one was the correct call, but I’d still be screaming at the ref for the late whistle in a beer league game. No way he actually saw a loose puck there.

Edit: Whoa, lotta negativity on here tonight. Let’s chill guys. It was one bad game after 7 or 8 pretty good ones. They just need a bounce back in Phoenix this week.

  17. DG_BeardGains

Good 1st annnnd that was it. Absolutely miffed about this loss I think more than the others.

  18. Go_Hawks12

Someone call up Mike Cameron and have him bring some sage.

  19. DeadlyRedCube

Well this was a fantastic game to be unable to watch

sad to say I don’t think we’re making the playoffs this year, this team has .500 hockey all over it. Good games in spurts, consistently shit 3rd periods, blown leads, games where they can’t score. Too many things that need to be overcome. Last year we had 4 lines that got us through it, this year we seem to be only firing on 3/4 cylinders on a good day, usually its 2/4.

and the biggest thing, last year we consistently won points against ‘lesser’ opponents, this year we’ve already lost several games to other middling teams.

  21. I have zero expectations for this team this year. How did you blue liners manage last year?

  22. MartialSpark

One thing to keep in mind with box scores, you only get a SOG if it touches the goalie. Posts and misses don’t count.

We shoot for deflections a lot, which when they don’t work typically go wide. Those don’t show up as SOGs since the goalie rarely touches them.

If you look at Fenwick (shot attempts that a player doesn’t block), we were at 33 for and 39 against. Corsi (any shot attempt, even if blocked) was 48 to 50.

So we didn’t really get outshot as badly as it might seem, we just don’t place them on net every time.

I’m not really sure the deflection strategy is better than the shoot for pads and play for rebounds strategy, but it is what they seem to want to do.

  23. seataccrunch

Dumo , Schultz, Eberle, Matty bug fat yuck overall on the year.

  24. seataccrunch

McCann takes cross check head to ice and teammates do nothing. Disheartening to see that. This squad plays soft.

  25. Marxbrosburner

Have we ever NOT allowed an empty net goal in?
