Game was a joke and it had nothing to do with the players vs how it was managed. Not worried about the season till come Christmas. They want to lose the first 30 then so be it. Worried more about the trash refs.. not a kicking motion.
Every year its the same thing, the D-core and goaltending i like the guys in in both, but they just need to stop letting the puck in the back of the net, but i feel like even if we got someone like vasilevskiy,saros, or hellybuck they'd still be hemoraging goals. And there are some good players, and they'll make some good plays. However, they are just not "bringing it"
Coming from a Canuck fan. This wasnt a bad game. That disallowed goal, if called a goal, its a different game, and who knows what the momentum does off that. Just keep working on the positives and foget about whats not working. You guys have a solid team when you click. Just having a tough start. Were lucky, we came out the gate hot, this season. Its a nice change. Been a tough decade for us in Van.
Jay is a good coach. Since the Tippett era, this team couldn’t play defense and goaltending was suspect, and Tippett is a defensive coach.. how much of a chance does Woodcroft have to teach forwards not to give away the puck, or let one guy drift to the net where 3 of you are just standing around? Doesn’t matter which coach you have if your players can’t play responsibly and your GM has no cap space to make more deals.
Goalie coach. Needs to be dealt with. I’ll never forget the turnaround that Dubnyk made when he went to Minnesota and talked about how the change in goalie coach saved him.
Until we get a coach that will hold players accountable this team will continue to struggle year in year out, Bouchard should have been bench this is not the first time he’s done the same mistake it happens every game, Kane’s lazy back check last game that saw him take a water skiing penalty should have been bench, Nurse aloud a player to get position and out battle him for a puck 2 goals in the back of the net should have been benched. Drai taking retaliatory penalties that always end up in our net should have been benched years ago for this but has never been held accountable by a single Oilers coach, enough is enough, if we ever want to see another cup we need a coach that will hold every single player accountable doesn’t matter what he makes or what names on the back of the jersey, as oilers fans we are sick of this BS.
Okay this is not on Jay and he shouldn’t deserve to be fired. This is on a few people throughout these 11 games so far. First it’s the players and they know this but they have to be better for god sake. You can’t have the top guys be in a slump for 8 some games and not get any points. Plus every dam player on the team needs to work harder not just for 10 minutes for 60 minutes. If that means you gotta watch some footage to see where you need to improve then so be it. Next is the goalie coach yep I’m calling out Dustin Schwartz whatever this guy is coaching is awful every goalie that comes into the organization ends up becoming trash. Scrivens , Fasth , Talbot , Dubnyk , Smith , MK , Campbell and now Skinner it’s really sad. This team needs a good goalie coach. Holland is not the problem yea he signed Nurse to an awful contract and Campbell is on the books for 5 million but he did bring in Kane that was good Hymann that was good Warren that was good Ekholm that was good he’s done good things more then bad. I really think this is a player mental block the players have lost confidence and we have seen this before in the past the team had something to bring them out last year it was Ekholm the year before it was little Ben. The players 100% need to step up more and the goalie coach needs to go.

What a toxic fanbase for the Oilers. I like the team but hate the fanbase and commenters, give it a rest with blaming goaltenders. Edmonton destroys goaltenders because they got nothing happening in front of them. Go ahead, call up some other talent, trade for some veteran, you really think that is going to make a difference? Do they understand what hockey is?

Too much hype coming into the season. The league will punish a Canadian team for even trying to be mentioned with the word Stanley Cup.
