I don't see it, the likes of city, Liverpool, arsenal, spurs, even villa and Newcastle, are better than Chelsea, so in the next 5 seasons, will Chelsea win the league, probably no, its like utd, there time has come and gone, harsh but (post R A) true. YNWA.

Simon talks as if other clubs are not making moves as well. And as if City is just gonna let themselves not be in there and there about. NO SIMON. Its not a guarantee Chelsea will win the Championship. League One, maybe.
Chelsea will NOT win the league in the next 2-3 seasons, and the Saudi league will NOT become a major force in world football.
"Chelsea will win the league in 2-3 years.." that is an outrageous claim and for someone that prides themselves on making astute observations built on the foundations of logic and reasoning, this seems devoid of both. Simon is making a hell of a leap in his argument by assuming that Todd Boehly will learn from his mistakes and quickly. The way he ran the LA Dodgers suggests otherwise. Further, how exactly are Chelsea going to get better if they don't accelerate their income streams by participating in the Champions League? You need the best players to win leagues and the best players aren't going to sign for a club that isn't playing in the Champions League. Right now they are giving better run clubs like Newcastle, Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool a hell of a head start to build a squad that will ensure Chelsea don't get back into the UCL places. This seems to be an argument solely predicated on Simon's feelings of duty as one owner (former) to another.
