  1. No one thought Hronke was a bad player. There were two problems with the trade, the picks AND that he only had a year left on his contract

  2. Canucks injury concern are games like last night , Oilers were using sticks on Canucks all game long .They will eventually have dirty intent to injure players like Marchant in Boston to deal with . Referees do not protect western teams against Eastern teams violence .

  3. I don't blame Skinner for that first own goal (a goalie never expects to have to make a save off their own player) but he needed to have that second goal by Suter. That goal broke the Oilers spirit.

Compare that to Demko in the Dallas game and that amazing glove save he made when the score was still 0-0. If he didn't make that save, none of us complain due to the difficulty. But because he did, the Canucks don't go down 1-0 and don't have to change up their game plan to try to get back into the game causing more possible scoring chances against. That's what great goaltending does for you.

  4. 1:29 Yeah but they also got shut out in their first loss, and "only" scored two against Dallas. So there have been more than just a couple of games where they scored in bunches. What's insane about the +30 goal diff after 12 games is that these Canucks are a team in the CAP era. Oilers could spend all they wanted to attain that number back in the 80s.

4:59 Ok but how many of those shots are quality chances? (seriously, I don't know the statistics on that)

12:23 I don't even care of Hronek doesn't score a single goal this season. As long as he keeps feeding the puck to everyone else who does score, and is sound defensively, that's all I ask. Hell, imagine if he went 82GP, 0 goals, 82 assists? FINE! lol.

    13:17 And….. Accurate.

  5. oh, they broke them!!! full marks for the management team right up to the top. john stayed up past his bedtime. they must be good. campbell placed on waivers.

  6. Love Hronek so far the gamble seems to have paid off. My main hesitation was Yzerman moving on from injury prone D man but the value paid was worth this level of play when healthy. hope he is protected by other players on the team

  7. What bounces? All of these players are expert shooters, Petey, Hughes, Boeser, Kuzmenko and Miller, they are also great passers, none of the goals they have scored are unusual or super lucky, they hit the post and miss the net as much as any other team, but when elite shooters get the type of opportunities their play is producing they will score more often than not.

  8. Oilers problems start with Nurse. I would take 3 NHL Journeymen at 2.5mil-3mil than risk him. Then I would blame the goalies for their play. A NMC and high cap……lol

  9. Appreciate anyone who does their homework, neat insight on increased penalty shots likely due to change in defense strategies.

  10. Oilers fan here. Gotta give credit to the canucks, it's aweseome to see them finally playing good hockey again, and I agree they are exciting to watch. I still think Vegas is the team to beat in the west, but I could see the canucks challenging them for the top spot later on in the season.
