Copp, Gostisbehere & Coach Lalonde Post Game – Nov. 7 @ BOS
Andrew Copp, Shayne Gostisbehere and Head Coach Derek Lalonde speak with the media following the Red Wings matchup with the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on November 7, 2023.
Mehhhh…. the staff seems to not have an answer for an aggressive forecheck and a puck possessive offense either (easy to get entries on, collapses into position and gives up way too much space). I honestly felt like it took the wings more than half the game to realize they needed to apply direct pressure to the puck while on defense, but by then it was way too late. It looked so incredibly bad as a team. It doesn't take a keen or experienced eye to notice the passing… The skill gap between opposition, granted it is the Atlantic Div, and the Wings is bringing me back to reality really fast. This team cannot play with pace and pass well – it was ugly. There is the looming aspect of Husso, who hasn't had a great showing to start the year. If we're going to go .500 or under, at least try Lyon or Reimer in the cycle more. It'd be fun to see what we have in Lyon.
Come on, figure it out. I'm tired of watching a team that is either competent or totally hopeless at any given time. This is a good roster, they should be capable of influencing the flow of the game even if things start rough. Make adjustments.
Tough game to watch. Looked like the ice was slanted in NYs favour. One observation: Detroit uses the boards very well in the offensive zone. It looked like they were waiting for that quick pass to the point or they were in the passing lanes. Wings are going to have to figure that one out. Yikes!! 0 for 6 on the PP
Lalonde with the nickname Newsy is just dumb. I get it that it comes from a guy in Montreal back in the 1920's but it's just a copycat name. I like Uncle Fester much better.

Still love ya’ll. You’ll get it back in the next one!
Rough game, but it happens. Next time we’ll get’em

2-1-2 forecheck to start by rangers led to strong chances and goals slowed down towards the end but damage done
Newsy, man. When I see such a complete lack off effort and adjustment really makes me wonder if this is on you. They did not look ready to go.
Dang those Rangers had a PLAN. Completely shut down our top line and top PP. gg
Copp is so well spoken and says it how it is, I love him in a leadership role for the boys. Go Wings 🐙❤️
