MONTREAL CANADIENS PROBLEMS

MONTREAL CANADIENS PROBLEMS

CANADIENS FACE TOUGH LOSS AS LIGHTNING SCORE FOUR FIRST-PERIOD GOALS

In a high-stakes match against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Montreal Canadiens faced a challenging 5-3 defeat. The game was marked by a tumultuous start as Jake Allen, who had previously been awarded the Molson Cup for his stellar performance in October, had a challenging night.

Jake Allen’s early struggles were evident when he allowed a goal only 22 seconds into the game, followed by three more goals on just eight shots. His disappointing performance led to him being pulled from the goal, and Samuel Montembeault took over, offering a much-needed change in the Canadiens’ net.

Despite their valiant effort in the third period, the Canadiens were unable to recover from the four-goal deficit they had spotted the Lightning. The final score saw Tampa Bay secure a 5-3 victory at the Bell Centre as the Canadiens returned home following a week-long road trip.

Jake Allen’s unfortunate night left him with a disheartening save percentage of just .556, a far cry from his previous October achievements. Nicholas Paul was a standout for the Lightning, scoring two goals, while Nikita Kucherov, Michael Eyssimont, and Alex Barré-Boulet also contributed to the scoreboard. Captain Steven Stamkos, defenseman Victor Hedman, and Brandon Hagel each recorded two assists.

  1. St Louis needs to stop playing RW like Caufield and Anderson on the left and Lw like Slafkoski and Newhook on the right side.

  2. Great comments! They were totally lost on ice the first 9 or so minutes. Looked like beer league hockey (after a few).

  3. Good video, in penalty kill Habs should not let Tampa to pass puck side to side. Too easy and overplaying by the 2 forwards.

  4. Great video Coach… and analysis with terrific clips. Jake Allen 4 goals on 9 shots isn't good. Maybe he was told that he would be traded to Edmonton and he didn't want to go? . Bad choices on skating path by many these past 3 games, taking themselves out of position due to the direction they turn or skate leaving unbalanced defensive zone

  5. In each of the last three games, the Canadiens were playing a team on the back half of games on consecutive nights. They should of been the fresher team but have lost all three matches. Montreal has not won in regulation time since October 23rd, a span of eight games. Allen was hung out to dry last night. Leaving Nikita Kucherov alone in high danger area just 22 seconds into game was terrible coverage by Montreal. Nikita will not miss many of those..
