The Devils are at a pivotal stage. We need to be able to fix our issues. our defenseman and our system involving them into our offense is leaving our goaltenders to go against odd man rushes, 2 vs. 1 and break away situations. This will not win us a Stanley cup. This will only make us into the Edmonton oilers. a high octane offensive team, with a great powerplay but with a shitty defense that lets opposing teams score 4 a night minimum.

Their system requires extreme skill at possession in the offensive zone, especially near the blue line. Jack and – to some extent – Nico are capable of playing with fire drawing opponents out and burning them with quick skating and passing. With Jack and Nico out, however, they are still trying to play that level of possession, and they can’t handle the pressure as well.
Combine the big losses at center with a D crew that has some big blind spots and we’ve got a situation.
I’ll also say Luke is too cute at times, though not too different from Jack early in his career. I’m ok with this to be honest. Lindy has him in a position to learn fast, and he will keep getting better.
If Luke can learn with the big boys, I wonder could we have Nemec learn here at the same time? Maybe that’s too many rookies all at once? What’s a realistic timeframe to bring him up?
