I just saw like 6 different tweets about this form flyers accounts all get posted at the same time. This was not on my bingo card for today.

Honestly, good on them. I know there’s a lot of hoopla around whether or not they were the cause of a lot of demise, but, either way, aside from the 90s this was my favorite era of watching flyers hockey. It’s a good gesture by the organization to bring Richards back. The dude epitomized being a flyer and regardless of the pain pill stuff, he will always be a favorite to me.

I’m actually considering going. This is some legit nostalgia farming.

Although I was for it at the time, moving Richards and Carter (on the same day and in the shocking way that they did) and signing Bryz (which bumped Bobrovsky out) were ultimately what began the demise of this franchise. I wish that core would’ve gotten many more cracks at it instead of the shit we had for the last decade plus.

Wow. I never expected him to come back. This is awesome! Hopefully this starts his redemption tour.

wonder if David Krejci plays lol. Might still be out with an upper body injury.

All seriousness, the franchise hasn’t been the same since the day he was traded away. I could’ve lived with Carter going, but Richards being traded was like ripping the heart out of the team.

To this day I remember the traffic light and weather outside when I got a text from my buddy when I found out.

will always have such a soft spot for those 2007-2011 teams, and this man in particular. just absolutely left it all on the ice every night.
