The fact is the D is horrible and Kulak and Ceci are 6-7 D on any other team! I never understood the big desire to sign Bouchard other then a slap shot he’s a pylon, skip the goalie trades and get some solid D so we can stop playing like a pee wee team! Leon is not playing to his potential and relying on 2 lines does not get it done in the NHL, going to have to make a serious move to stabilize that D!
Is it the goalie? Is it the defence? Is it the goaltending coach? Like these areas need to be worked on all at once. But Woodcroft os a fantastic coach. Theyre getting the opprotunites they just keep out goaloed
Woodcroft looks like a deer in the headlights. Face pure white like a Halloween ghost. The problem has to be something internal. This is basically the same team that came two wins from going to the Stanley Cup final. Better defense and they would have done so. Same team that had a best record in the league after the All-Star break. Better than Boston. Yeah, defense is clearly the main problem but, still, I think there's some issue that's not obvious to us. Something in the dressing room. Team looks dispirited. What team is going to give us a goalie? We'd have to give up a lot to get a very good one. Love to have Saros, but why would Nashville trade him now? Maybe at the deadline if they're out of the playoff mix, but the Oilers can't wait that long, or they'll be outside looking in too. No matter who it is it won't matter unless there's better defense in front of him. Damn it. Give Pickard a chance. Can't do any worse than where we are now. I think Patrick said Pickard has been putting up good numbers down in Bakersfield. DeSmith is not a number one goalie and yet he stood on his head, and did figure skating pirouettes too, against us. Wedgewood the same. Now Blackwood. They're basically back-up goalies. No idea they could be that good especially when the Oilers bombarded them with shots. They were helped by good defensive play in front of them. No easy looks for us. Wish that could be said about our team. How often do we leave the slot wide open? Or get caught making a bad pinch at the opponent's blueline leading to a two-on-one against us for the other team? Or give aways on our own zone? So, I say go with Pickard and find out what you have there. Maybe, hopefully, his time has come. You can still work on the goalie issue. Campbell's gone period. Also, need to add another Ekholm level d-man. Preferably, a right shot man. Adam Larsson would sure look good back an Oilers uniform. That's another dream. Same as the Pat Maroon dream. Add some toughness like Maroon and no one would dare touch McDavid or Draisaitl. That would help too. Lose to Seattle and its bye, bye Woodcroft. Has to be. Should be no matter what. I'd bet that decision has already been made. Just have to work out the details of getting a new coach on board. No choice. Then a new GM. Maybe somebody from a team that has recently won a Cup. An assistant GM or someone like that. Vancouver did just that. How many Cup rings does their new management team have? A lot. They clearly know their s**t. Jeff Jackson is going to kick some butt. Has to. If this goes on much longer you can kiss the playoffs goodbye. Fix it, and maybe, just maybe, they can be as good as they were after last year's All-Star break. Hopefully, that's not just another dream.

I think that this is all related to the fact that Drai WILL NOT resign with the Oilers so he will be put up for trade in the next 12 months. Same goes for McD. He will never resign with the Oilers and management has realized this so they will be trading McD within 24 months. Management has instructed players to tank so they can improve in the draft the next two years.
Okay, I enjoyed the Sharks win as much as everyone else, but ultimately the Oilers are my 3rd favourite team, so let me tell you this please Oilers DO NOT DO THIS. There is no goalie the NHL playing behind a shit defensive style like the Oilers are playing, so I don't think there is a goalie that can fix this. Not even Vasy could fix this, he also lets in 2 on 1s and cross crease passes, and shots from elite shooters coming down the middle of the ice.
I think if the Oilers lose another 40 or 50 games they probably wont make the playoffs. If that happens i think any player in Edmonton that drives an electric vehicle will be traded. Also any player that drives a diesel will need to have the head gaskets replaced. If i was a goalie in the nhl ide ask to go to Edmonton and ide hang out at west ed. Does anyone know if Wayner runs a diesel truck?Seriously tho this team needs to take a 5 gallon pail full of cocaine into the dressing room before every game, really come out flyin. Then just drink pop all night. No water. No food at all until the next day. Intermittent fasting for at least 3 days before every game. Then only turnips cabbage and rice. Its called the working poor diet.
Jays a great coach but my one complaint is that he doesn’t hold players accountable. I’m not saying bench someone for a game but a shift of two would be a good idea when they have massive screw ups.
It doesn't seem like Oilers management knows what the problem is with the Oilers. Special teams are not doing what they were supposed to be doing in the last few seasons. McDavid and Draisitle are not playing at 100%. Rather see Manson, Gulutzan, and Schwartsz go than Woodcroft.
Tomorrow against the Kraken, I think Pickard should play and give Skinner a break because if he keeps losing it could put him into a deeper pit of depression. Pickard has NHL experience, so give him the opportunity and let Skinner get out from underneath the pressure of losing. 97 and 29 cannot carry this team year in and year out without some kind of repercussions on them, and it could destroy their careers. I would support them if they wanted to be traded to get a renewal of their game and a chance to win a cup. If they did leave, this team would be a total peewee team at best. I want the best for 97 and 29 and if that is elsewhere, so be it as much as I hate to see them go. I believe Connor is injured and he is still carrying these farm team players. If Nurse was let go, it would not bother me at all since he is the cause of so many goals, whether taking a penalty at an important time of the game, and a stupid on at that,!!!
Just imagine if we still had Oscar Klefbom. That happening to us really set us back. Imagine having Oscar/Nurse/Ekholm. Nurse would have never got the ice time and everything else is oscar was still here and we would be making like 5m or so. Would have changed everything.

Travis Green is a good coach, he just didnt have a lot to work with.
Chiarelli started the tender mess and they just never seemed to completely get out from under it.
