On this episode of The Jesse Blake Sports Report, Ottawa Senators forward Shane Pinto has been suspended for 41 games by the National Hockey League for violated the league’s gambling policy. While the NHL has not released what Shane Pinto did to receive the suspension, they did clarify that he did not bet on NHL games. The suspension comes at a very interesting time, as he is in the middle of contract negations with Pierre Dorian and the Sens.

It's not necessarily true that he didn't bet on hockey (from what I've read), only that he didn't bet on NHL games. There is some speculation that he could have been betting on NHL award winners or free agent landing spots.

Professional athletes should not be betting on sports. I'm sure Pinto deserves this suspension. But…
The hypocrisy of all of this is so blatant and absurd. The NHL takes sportsbooks' money. State and local governments take sportsbooks' money. SDPN takes sportsbooks' money. Active NHL players take sportsbooks' money in endorsements.
Yet I love how they all try to ignore how inevitable this was given how they've all sold their integrity for this morally indefensible and corrupting money.
