[Stephens] Sheldon Keefe says Ryan Reaves getting benched tonight was a coach’s decision. “He’s having some bad luck right now” Adds he’s watched every goal against he’s been out there for and hasn’t found one that he can pin on Reaves.

I’ve certainly seen goals against where he’s just watching and forgetting to take his man. Playing 4:33 min and being -2 is too much

The issue with a Reaves is that he’s so slow that the other four guys on the ice have to compensate for him not being a part of the play. The first goal he was on for last night wasn’t his fault. It was a bad rebound by Woll but Reaves was still behind the play.
The second goal was a shot from the blue line that Reaves wasn’t able to get out to the shooter and take away his shooting lane. He wasn’t out of position by making a bad decision, He just wasn’t able to get to the right spot because he is slow
Ryan Reaves is not an NHL player. His last game should have been the Florida game when he did absolutely nothing after Liljegren got hurt.
Not to mention that we are overpaying z David Kampf to be a defensive forward (and he has been really bad this year) and you can’t use him as one when he is anchored to Reaves. Kampf is a 4th line Center who can play up the lineup in close games where you have a lead and need to prevent goals rather than score them. Right now we have to shelter the 4th line because it plays 4 on 5 every night.
But has he found any clips of Reaves doing something useful? He’s mostly just stiffly skating around doing nothing and not covering anyone in the defensive zone

He’s ECHL calibre at best.

Tell me all the positives he can pin on Reaves then. I must have missed them.
It’s weird that Reaves is even in the NHL. There’s around 750 players in the league on active rosters. Of all the kids playing hockey around the world there’s no fucking way he’s in the top 750.

I’m just wondering how he got into two scraps at the beginning of the season, and then did nothing after that. He hyped us up for nothing. Hopefully some more heavy weight tilts are coming at least.
He knows he’s been really bad. He is just covering for a veteran against the media and the fans. Plus I think the guys in the locker room like him so you don’t throw folks under the bus in this market. Quick way to lose the room.
