Toronto is killing this dude

The Toronto Maple Leafs need to do something about their players and that starts with Ryan Reaves. He has had 0 goals or assists this season leading to him being shafted for the foreseeable future.

  1. Who would of guessed signing a 36 year old "enforcer" to a 3 year deal was a bad idea

  2. basically Leafs thought that by signing dom, tyler, and Reaves they will turn marner and matthews into a long lost Tkachuk brothers

  3. Fyi, Brodie is my new whipping boy in the absence of Justin Holl. Brodie is absolutely brutal! Now that Holl is gone, Brodie really sticks out like a blue pylon

  4. Bert is a guy like you mentioned. Solid allrounder with some grit added and who will stick up for teammates. Need more Berts out there for TOR.

  5. I love reaves. I have since he came to the league. He was an epic part of the vegas cup final in their first year. I was so stoked to hear he was coming to the leafs. And I don't understand the hate. Hockey is a rough sport. Always has been and it always should be. This dude brings energy and physicality that can't be matched. I'm glad he's here.

  6. I think you hit the nail the head about how the leafs try to build team toughness. Since at least Dubas, they been trying to staple jam and grit onto this group every year. As if like 30 games of Foligno or Jumbo Joe will make the top guys finish checks. With the cap space they’ve got, usually all it does is compromise depth and give you odd line combos

  7. I can see him being moved either before or at the deadline along with some prospects or picks to a rebuilding team out of playoff contention.

  8. In my opinion the leaves have not given reaves a chance to get in any kind of rhythm in his game how does anyone expect him to get his game going playing 2 to 5 minutes i think he still has game they need to get him involved and feel part of the team and game look what 40 year old Giordano did last night

  9. Reaves was an ineffective pylon five years ago when the Pens inexplicably signed him. I don't know why anyone would've expected that situation to improve.

  10. (As a Bs fan most of my analysis involves comparing to Bergy so FYI) … toughness can also be like Bergeron and many of the Bs players who learned how to take big hits and keep rolling. They defined toughness in the sense the people trying to hit them never bothered them.

  11. I really dislike this title, for once, Eck. It looks like Toronto is doing something bad to a good player etc… while the truth is that he is just bad. They're not "killing him" at all. Yeah, he brings some physicality, but at what cost? A lot of goals against, stupid and useless fights leading to the team playing with one less forward for a good amount of time. He did that to himself. The only bad thing the Leafs did with him is giving him that insane contract.

The real whipping boy in this team is John Klingberg who has another weird contract. Luckily for Toronto, it's just one year and not three… until Treliving gives him another big one

  12. Yawns, didn't Nick Kypreos give this take on national tv and radio every day for the last two weeks?

    Generic sports talk, boring.
