Best game we’ve played all year. Not much to complain about on this one. Next game’s not til Friday, luckily now we can spend this week somewhat happy about a recent win instead of apoplectic about a recent loss.
I hate how every year we sign some “tough guy” and they always just end up making the fourth line a lot worse than it really is. I will be so frustrated if Reaves plays again barring any injuries.
Great game, but now it’s all about consistency. And we need that from some of the Marlies guys.
I was at the game, couple of observations:
Last night was not the night to put the puck in Gio’s corner. Dude had the old man, dad strength on overdrive. It was like ‘wake up kids, you’re not wrecking my last shot at a decent run for the mug’
That snot they showed really paid-off. As the game went on, there were a couple time Van wingers were less aggressive than what they should’ve been because they didn’t want to get whomped. One winger in particular who peeled away from a puck-chase against McCabe was particularly evident. He wasn’t on a change – just scared. The kind of play that the dude gets to sit his next shift for most NHL coaches.
All the air came out of the ‘Nucks after the Kamph goal. It was ten minutes of beer league hockey for them after that. Great for the Leafs as you know they could feel good about themselves.
Great atmosphere in the rink – playoff game style.
All in, it was a good win!
Did any one else think the Nucks player tried to headbutt Gio at the start of the fight?
One thing I learned from that and past games is that I have no idea what an instigator penalty is and when it should be called. I’m not sure the refs do either.
Edit: I want the Leafs to keep playing with that snot.
