This is what everyone wanted! Toughness and grit /60.

  2. RattledRed

This team need to stick up for each other! The score dosnt matter, just stand up for each other!

    Stands up for each other…

Why is this team fighting for no reason? Just skate away, they were clean hits. No point in fighting. Goals win games not fights.

This fan base if fucked lol….

  3. chouindog

I’m honestly glad they took those instigator penalties. Show some heart and they won’t need to take these penalties every game.

  4. Bobbyoot47

It’s sort of like the weather in Scotland. You don’t like what’s happening just wait five minutes.

  5. APsychoMaster

Same thing with Brodie getting the penalty last night again Calgary. Finally push someone out of the crease and penalized

  6. JustAnAsteroid

Under other circumstances I’d say it’s a dumb move. This team needed that spark. I’m all about it.

  7. marcman84

Leafs need to stick up for each other!

    Wait no not like that.

  8. Morganvegas

If you’re gonna go down, take a piece of em with you.

  9. Thespud1979

I love what I’m seeing. 20% is a good PP so I’ll take 1 in 5 to let the league know we aren’t the softest team in the history of the NHL anymore.

  10. ImpressiveCan14

I honestly like the fact we’re standing up for our players no chance those ever get called in the playoffs

  11. shanster925

Just take the Florida Panthers approach: keep doing it until the refs give up.

  12. OneNineSevenNine

Personally not a fan of the penalties.

It feels half hearted. I agree with the sentiment that unless the core are willing to get involved, there’s no point.

We had a 40 year old defensman in a fight.

To me, that’s not inspiring. This “toughness” will be short lived. It’s not going to be a “thing”.

They’re definitely getting better this game though and I would wager it has nothing to do with those fights but the actual goal scoring.

  13. ytrehtthgie

Small price to pay to be up 3 in the third

  14. SpectretheGreat

Yeah for real, but thankfully it seems to have paid off so fuck it throw hands lets see Gio earn an MMA title.

  15. lbc1358

I’ll take instigator penalties if it’s because they’re sticking up for one another. Good on Gio and Domi.

  16. Pristine_Office_2773

if the Leafs didnt win the game this post would be decent

  17. CardiologistSlow1531

After both fights the Canucks defence were not stepping up to hit as much (I felt), so I don’t care about the goals, mission accomplished.

  18. NefCanuck

Refs were out to screw the Leafs but without the dinner & movie first.

Good to see the boys get the W, but that ref crew needs to be on the first bus driven into Lake Ontario 😑

  19. someguy172

You know there must be some boomers out there that absolutely loved seeing someone named Domi in a Leafs jersey get in a fight tonight.

  20. RecalcitrantHuman

I would love to see the stats on every team that has 2 fights in a game and how many of them get 2 instigator penalties. My guess is the answer is 0%.

  21. richarm87

Trelivings team meeting seemed to have finally hit

  22. iam1ur2

True championship teams lead in both scoring and penalty minutes!

  23. Redneckshinobi

They didn’t even hesitate! Domi has really grown on me. His dad was the goat of fucking people up no matter their size to protect his teammate. This is what we need more of, never again in the sense they won’t let these things happen anymore. Instigate away I’m here for it

  24. First_Tumbleweed_804

Yup I hear ya. It’s the pain of being a leaf fan
FYI. Of 145 fights in the league so far this year. 14 had an extra instigator call. 2 of those were tonight back to back against the leafs. Nuff said.

  25. DarkAgeMonks

Kevin “Not Biz” Bieska’s take was awful.

  26. bucajack

Honestly fuck it. Take those penalties all day. Teams need to know you can’t run our guys.

  27. specialk554

I’ll smile every time we take those. We can give up a couple points on the year to teach our guys to come together like that.

  28. canadachris44

Now we need some.of the younger guys step up when needed. Why can’t JT ever do anything like this?

  29. Ear_to_da_grindstone

No. They won. And Reavo didn’t play. And they stuck up for their teammates. Lesson learned is Reavo is unneeded.

  30. Intelligent-Flow4797

The best penalties they’ve taken all season

  31. ryantheMagicalo

Nah, they just need to learn to make aggressive plays without taking penalties. Simple examples are: your stick is for handling the puck only, fighting is consensual. A good way to be more enforcing is to ensure that everyone finishes their body checking, not just a few players

  32. TheWilrus

The real truth is another team that is more physical by reputation starts those fights and the instigator is far less likely of a call.

  33. DangleWho

That first one was horseshit. Gio was the second one to drop his gloves.

  34. alainalain4911

    “Sometimes you just can’t win”

    …except they did win. Decisively.
